How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Spalding University asks for international credits to be evaluated by WES, ECE, Academic Evaluation Services, SpanTran, GCFNS International or another NACES member, and its transfer credit policy says you send WES your official transcripts and a translation, if needed.
Spalding's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency; the evaluation is something we do not provide.

Worth knowing about Spalding
WES for credit
You send WES the transcript and translation.
Six options
WES, ECE, AES, NACES, SpanTran, GCFNS.
Credit by subject
WES recommends credits, Spalding decides.
Spalding requirements in detail
Translation
The admission page says international credits are "evaluated and translated" by the listed agencies; the transfer policy says you send the translation, if needed, to WES (International admissions; transfer credit policy).
Who may translate
Not stated by Spalding; WES, which does not translate, wants a professional translator.
Evaluation
By WES, ECE, Academic Evaluation Services, a NACES member, SpanTran or GCFNS International (International admissions).
Transfer credit
Spalding uses WES; WES sends a final evaluation by subject area and credit hours, and Spalding accepts credit comparable to its curriculum (Catalog: transfer credit policy).
Catalog rule
Documents in a foreign language must be evaluated by an approved credential evaluating service at the applicant's expense; certified copies sent by another institution are acceptable (catalog).
Financial
A certified bank statement or affidavit of support, and a passport copy (International admissions).
Who translates: the agency or you?
Spalding's international admissions page says international credits need to be evaluated and translated by one of six options (international admissions).
The catalog's transfer credit policy is more concrete: Spalding uses WES, and you submit your official transcripts and their translation, if needed, directly to WES with payment (transfer credit policy).
WES itself does not translate documents; it asks for an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept applicants' own. So for WES you bring the translation.
Other listed agencies differ: ECE accepts any complete, word-for-word translation and sells an $85 waiver under which it translates internally; SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, accepts outside translations only from ATA-certified translators, which eVerbary can assign on request.
How the WES report turns into Spalding credit
WES sends its final evaluation directly to Spalding, broken down by subject area and number of credit hours, with recommendations; Spalding then accepts transfer credit for any course that appears comparable to its own curriculum (Catalog: transfer credit policy).
The catalog adds certified copies of O and A level examination certificates where they apply, and a certified affidavit of financial support (catalog).
Translate course titles, grades and the grading scale exactly, since they drive the subject-by-subject breakdown.
Need a certified translation for Spalding?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts and diploma
- College or university transcripts, for the WES evaluation
- O and A level examination certificates, where they apply
- Bank statement or affidavit of support, if not in English
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Spalding
Send the translation with your official transcripts directly to WES (or the agency you choose); the agency sends its evaluation to Spalding (Catalog: transfer credit policy). Other documents go with the Spalding application (International admissions).
On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Spalding, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Spalding that means we translate your records for the agency; the evaluation is ordered and paid by you, with WES or another listed agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Will WES translate my transcripts for Spalding?
No. Spalding's policy has you send the translation to WES (Catalog: transfer credit policy), and WES asks for one by a professional translator (WES).
Which evaluation agencies does Spalding accept?
WES, ECE, Academic Evaluation Services, NACES members, SpanTran or GCFNS International (International admissions); for transfer credit the catalog names WES (Catalog: transfer credit policy).
How does Spalding decide which credits transfer?
From the WES report by subject area and credit hours; it accepts credit that appears comparable to its curriculum (Catalog: transfer credit policy).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for Spalding?
Yes, on request, for example if you use SpanTran. Ask for a free quote and note that the translation is for an evaluation for Spalding University and needs a translator individually certified by ATA. ATA certifies Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) and Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page) into English; no other languages.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
