How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Southern University at New Orleans requires applicants educated in a non-English-speaking secondary school to submit a course-by-course evaluation of that work from a US credential evaluation service, and every foreign university transcript to be evaluated course by course; it lists WES, IERF, Josef Silny and ECE.
SUNO's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and IERF, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency; the evaluation itself is something we do not produce.

Four agencies
WES, IERF, Josef Silny and ECE.

Original national examination certificate too.
SUNO requirements in detail
Translation
The checklist asks for the secondary school record in English; foreign records reach SUNO through the evaluation (International students).
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency; see below.
Evaluation
Course-by-course, for secondary school work from a non-English-speaking school and for every foreign university transcript (International students).
Agencies listed
World Education Services, International Education Research Foundation, Josef Silny & Associates and Educational Credential Evaluators (International students).
Other documents
Letter of recommendation from a school official, Certificate of Financial Support, and the original national examination certificate if applicable (International students).
English
TOEFL 550 paper or 80 internet-based, or IELTS 7.0, unless English is your native language (International students).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not translate itself. ECE accepts any complete, literal translation or sells an $85 waiver.
IERF asks for typed, line-by-line translations and may require a professional one.
Josef Silny wants outside translators in the US to be certified by ATA; if you choose it, eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA on request.
Why a secondary school record needs course-by-course
Many universities accept a general evaluation of high school; SUNO asks for course-by-course whenever your secondary school taught in a language other than English, for first-time freshmen and transfers alike (International students).
Translate every year of the transcript, the diploma and the national examination certificate, since SUNO also asks for that certificate in original.
Need a certified translation for SUNO?

- University transcripts, for transfers
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to SUNO
The translation goes to WES, IERF, Josef Silny or ECE with your records; the agency sends the course-by-course evaluation to SUNO Admissions (International students).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For SUNO that means we translate your records; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from one of the listed agencies.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
