How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Southern Nazarene University requires every international applicant to submit transcripts to SpanTran (The Evaluation Company), WES or Atlas for evaluation, and publishes no translation rule of its own.
SNU's evaluation agencies, such as WES, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. You order the translation first and send it to the agency; the evaluation itself is something we do not produce.

SNU requirements in detail
Translation
No rule of its own; the evaluator needs the translation (International admissions).
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency; see below.
Evaluation
Required for all international applicants, undergraduate and graduate, from SpanTran/TEC, WES or Atlas (International admissions).
Where it goes
Completed evaluations to the Registrar's office in Bethany, by mail or email (International admissions).
English
TOEFL iBT 61 or IELTS 6.0; graduate and nursing applicants TOEFL 79 or IELTS 7.0 (International admissions).
Fees and timing
$200 international student fee; I-20 processing takes about two weeks after all documents arrive (International admissions).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not translate documents itself.
SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, asks that an outside translator be certified by ATA, or translates in-house after you apply; for it, eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA through a free quote. Atlas sets its own rule, not covered here.
Same rule for every program
SNU applies the evaluation requirement to all international applicants, whether you apply to an undergraduate program or a graduate one (International admissions).
Nursing and the Master of Physician Assistant Studies have their own English requirements. Translate your secondary school records and any college transcripts before you open the agency file.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to SNU
The translation goes to SpanTran, WES or Atlas with your records; the agency's evaluation goes to the SNU Registrar by mail or email (International admissions).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For SNU that means we translate your records; the evaluation is ordered by you from SpanTran, WES or Atlas.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does SNU require a translation or an evaluation?
An evaluation from SpanTran, WES or Atlas (International admissions); the agency asks for the translation.
Where do evaluations go?
To the Registrar's office in Bethany, by mail or by email (International admissions).
Is a TOEFL score required?
TOEFL 61 or IELTS 6.0 for admission; higher for graduate and nursing programs (International admissions).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for SpanTran?
Yes, on request through a free quote: Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian at $34.95 per page, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian at $44.95. ATA certifies no other languages into English.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
