Savannah College of Art and Design: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language
The Savannah College of Art and Design asks first-year, transfer and graduate applicants for transcripts and mark sheets in English or accompanied by a certified English translation, and does not say who must make the translation. Savannah College of Art and Design accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. SCAD evaluates foreign records itself, so no outside credential evaluation is named; the official transcript still has to come from your school before your first day of class.
One rule, three levels
The same certified-translation sentence for first-year, transfer and graduate.
Aug. 1 for fall
Official records by Aug. 1; all of them before the first day of class.
No outside evaluation
SCAD applies AACRAO standards to foreign records itself.
SCAD requirements at a glance
| What SCAD asks for | |
|---|---|
| Translation | Required for any transcript or mark sheet not in English: a "certified English translation" (first-year, transfer, graduate). |
| Who may translate | Not stated on any SCAD page we read. |
| Evaluation | None from an outside agency. SCAD uses the standards of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers to judge foreign credentials (source); transfer credit is reviewed course by course by SCAD advisers (FAQ). |
| Where to submit | After you apply, you log in to MyAdmission and an admission adviser is assigned; materials go to the adviser by email, standard mail and, in some cases, online (international). |
| Unofficial, then official | A preliminary offer can be based on unofficial transcripts or mark sheets. Official ones should arrive by Aug. 1 for fall, and must be in before the first day of class, or you may not be allowed to attend that quarter (source). |
| Application timing | Rolling: no application deadline, decisions in two to four weeks, apply at least 30 days before the quarter you want; terms start in September, January, March and June (source). |
| Graduate: GRE rule | Applicants whose bachelor's institution is not recognized by the ministry of education in their home country (and not otherwise accredited or proven comparable) must take the GRE (graduate requirements). |
| Does it accept eVerbary? | Yes. SCAD's admission pages ask for transcripts and mark sheets "in English or accompanied by a certified English translation" and do not restrict who makes it (first-year, transfer, graduate); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. One sentence for every applicant, and a firm deadline
SCAD's rule on language is the same at every level: the first-year, transfer and graduate requirements each say transcripts and mark sheets must be in English or come with a certified English translation. What differs is the record. First-year applicants send the transcript or mark sheet from their last secondary school, with all years of grades and proof of completion; transfer applicants send one from every college attended; graduate applicants send the degree-conferred transcript from their last degree-bearing institution, plus proof the bachelor's degree was completed.
The timing is the same for all three. An offer can be made on unofficial records, but official ones should reach SCAD by August 1 for a fall start and must be in before the first day of class; SCAD says a student who misses that may be barred from classes for that quarter. If your school issues records only in another language, the certified translation has to be ready by the same date, so it is worth ordering it when you request the official copy rather than after the offer.
No agency evaluation: SCAD reads the records itself
Many universities send international applicants to WES or ECE. SCAD does not name an evaluation agency. Its graduate page says it applies AACRAO standards and checks whether the degree-granting institution is accredited or recognized by the ministry of education or an equivalent agency in your home country. For transfer students, the FAQ says advisers evaluate transcripts course by course after admission and send a transfer credit report within two weeks of the decision; up to 90 quarter hours can transfer toward a bachelor's degree, with grades of C or better, and studio courses may need a portfolio review.
That makes the translation the document SCAD's staff actually work from. It should keep every course title, mark and the grading scale exactly as printed, with the original title of the degree beside the English one.
Graduate applicants: recognition and the GRE
SCAD's international graduate requirements (revised June 2026) tie the GRE to the institution that granted your bachelor's degree: if it is not approved or accredited, has not been shown comparable to SCAD, and is not recognized by your home country's ministry of education, you must take the GRE. Scores are also strongly recommended for architectural history, art history and creative business leadership.
SCAD also reserves the right to verify any document in an application and to revoke an offer if it finds discrepancies (source). A translation that reproduces seals, signatures and notes in full makes that check straightforward.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts or mark sheets for all years, and the proof of completion (first-year applicants)
- Transcripts from every college or university attended (transfer applicants)
- The degree-conferred transcript and the bachelor's degree certificate (graduate applicants)
- Diplomas or completion certificates, when the transcript does not show that the program was completed
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to SCAD
Send the original-language record and the certified translation to your SCAD admission adviser, who is assigned after you apply and log in to MyAdmission; SCAD accepts materials by email, standard mail and, in some cases, online (source).
The official transcript itself must come from your school and reach SCAD before the first day of class (source).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For SCAD that means we translate your transcripts, mark sheets and degree certificates; portfolios, the evaluation of your records and any GRE requirement are outside what we do.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my transcripts for SCAD?
SCAD asks for a certified English translation and does not say who must make it (source). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Do I need a WES or ECE evaluation for SCAD?
SCAD's admission pages name none. SCAD applies AACRAO standards to foreign records itself (source).
Can I be admitted before my official transcripts arrive?
Yes. SCAD can make a preliminary offer on unofficial transcripts or mark sheets, but the official ones must arrive before the first day of class (source).
Is there an application deadline for international students?
No. SCAD accepts applications all year, decides in two to four weeks, and asks you to apply at least 30 days before your intended quarter (source).
How much transfer credit can I bring to SCAD?
Up to 90 quarter hours toward a bachelor's degree, with grades of C or better, evaluated course by course after admission (FAQ).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
