Credit for college work done abroad also needs a detailed evaluation report from an approved agency, which we do not provide.
SBVC at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
SBVC's international admission requirements ask for official records "accompanied by a notarized translation" without saying who translates (admission requirements); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary, notarized for $34.90 per order, is that kind of translation. Every document in the package must be original or official.
Course levels
Credit reports must show grades and upper or lower division.
SBVC requirements in detail
Translation
Official transcripts or academic records from high school and college/university, with a notarized translation if not in English (International student admission requirements).
Who may translate
Not stated.
Form of documents
All documents in the package need to be original or official; the high school diploma or proof of graduation is required (International student admission requirements).
Where to send
Email the complete package to the International Student Counselor, or mail it to the Counseling Center, and also file the general online application (International student admission requirements).
Deadlines
May 1 for fall, October 1 for spring, March 1 for summer (International student admission requirements).
College credit from abroad
A detailed evaluation report from an approved agency, with course grades and levels; SBVC does not evaluate foreign credits itself (Evaluation of foreign transcripts).
Other requirements
A C average for applicants with college study; proof of about $31,602 a year in funds (International student admission requirements).
A notarized translation of each record
SBVC asks for more than a translation: it must be notarized.
Its international admission requirements list official transcripts or academic records from high school and from any college or university attended, accompanied by a notarized translation if the originals are not in English, along with the high school diploma or proof of graduation.
Every document in the package has to be original or official. An eVerbary translation comes with a signed certificate of accuracy; choose notarization at checkout and the notarized PDF is what you send. For the diploma itself, see high school diploma translation.
If you already studied at a college or university, SBVC wants at least a C average there. Financial documents must show about $31,602 a year, more with dependents; if a bank letter is not in English, translate it with the rest of the package (International student admission requirements).
Credit for college work abroad
SBVC does not evaluate credits from colleges outside the US.
To apply them to an SBVC program you provide a detailed evaluation report from an approved agency, and the report must give each course's grade and its level, upper or lower division.
Credits approved count only toward SBVC degrees and certificates; English courses taught abroad may not be accepted as equivalent, and math courses not clearly defined may need further review.
A university you transfer to later evaluates your foreign transcripts again (Evaluation of foreign transcripts). SBVC does not name agencies on this page, so ask the Admissions and Records evaluator before ordering one.
Need a certified translation for SBVC?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- High school diploma or proof of graduation
- High school transcripts or academic records
- College or university transcripts
- Bank letter or affidavit of support documents
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to SBVC
Email the notarized translation with the original or official record, as part of the complete package, to the International Student Counselor; applicants who cannot email it mail the package to the Counseling Center, AD/SS-103 (International student admission requirements).
For credit, the translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records, and its detailed report is reviewed by SBVC Admissions and Records (Evaluation of foreign transcripts).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For SBVC that means we translate and, on request, notarize your records; the detailed evaluation report for credit comes from an evaluation agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does SBVC require a notarized translation?
Yes. Records not in English must be accompanied by a notarized translation (International student admission requirements). eVerbary adds notarization for $34.90 per order.
Who can translate my transcripts for SBVC?
SBVC does not say who must translate (International student admission requirements). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary, notarized, qualifies.
How do I submit my application package?
By email to the International Student Counselor, or by mail to the Counseling Center at SBVC; you also complete the general online application (International student admission requirements).
Will SBVC evaluate my foreign college credits?
No. You need a detailed report from an approved agency showing grades and upper or lower division levels (Evaluation of foreign transcripts).
When are the deadlines?
May 1 for fall, October 1 for spring and March 1 for summer (International student admission requirements).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
