Sacramento State asks undergraduate and graduate applicants with foreign academic work for official records along with a certified English translation, and its graduate page says the translation must come through a translation agency.

Sacramento State accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

International Admissions evaluates foreign credentials in-house, so an agency evaluation is optional for most applicants (WES, ACEI or ECE only), but MS Computer Science applicants must send one, and we do not provide evaluations.

Translation agency

Named on the graduate page; native-language transcript too.

Scans first

Official sealed records only at enrollment.

Sacramento State requirements in detail

Translation

Official academic records with a certified English translation, undergraduate and graduate (Catalog: international admissions).

Who may translate

Graduate: a translation agency; check first whether your university issues both versions (International graduate applicants). Undergraduate: not stated.

Evaluation

Done in-house; an agency report is not required or recommended, and only WES, ACEI or ECE reports are accepted (International undergraduate applicants).

Graduate exceptions

A WES, ECE or ACEI evaluation is recommended for 3-year degrees and required for the MS in Computer Science and Software Engineering (International graduate applicants).

Where to upload

Cal State Apply ($70), then clearly scanned PDFs to International Admission Documents; graduate documents to intldocs@csus.edu (undergraduate, graduate).

Official records

Requested at enrollment; the catalog asks for official copies in sealed envelopes (International undergraduate applicants, catalog).

Deadlines (undergraduate)

Fall 2027: apply October 1 to May 15, documents by May 30, 2027. Spring 2027: July 1 to October 4, documents by October 18, 2026 (International undergraduate applicants).

Sacramento State reads your records itself

Unlike many CSU campuses, Sacramento State's International Admissions evaluates all foreign credentials in-house, and says an agency evaluation is neither required nor recommended for first-year and transfer applicants; if you send one anyway, it must come from WES, ACEI or ECE (undergraduate applicants).

That makes the translation the document admissions actually reads.

First-year applicants send the high school transcript, which needs at least a 3.0 or an 80% average, with the diploma; transfers send every post-secondary transcript, and those with fewer than 60 semester units send the high school records too.

The catalog asks for yearly records from each college attended showing the hours per course and the grades, and for secondary school records, all with a certified English translation.

Translate the grading scale and the hours or credits column along with the grades, so in-house reviewers can calculate the equivalence.

Graduate applicants: native language plus an agency translation

The graduate page asks for all undergraduate and graduate transcripts, marksheets and grading scales, submitted in the native language together with an English translation through a translation agency, and suggests asking your home university first whether it issues both.

The degree certificate goes with the transcript once you have graduated; a provisional certificate is accepted.

In-house review covers most degrees, but a third-party evaluation from WES, ECE or ACEI is recommended for a 3-year foreign degree, and the MS in Computer Science and the MS in Computer Science (Software Engineering) require one: a WES ICAP course-by-course evaluation, an ECE course-by-course evaluation with insignia, or an ACEI report (International graduate applicants).

Documents are due two weeks after each program's application deadline.

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Sacramento State

  • Undergraduates upload clear scanned PDFs of the records and their translations to International Admission Documents after applying in Cal State Apply; unofficial copies speed up the decision, and official documents are requested at enrollment (International undergraduate applicants).

  • Graduate applicants email documents, including transcripts in the native language and the agency translation, to intldocs@csus.edu by the document deadline (International graduate applicants). On request, we can email your translation directly to the office.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Sacramento State that means we translate your records and grading scales; a WES, ECE or ACEI evaluation, if your program requires one, comes from the agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a credential evaluation to apply to Sacramento State?

Usually not. Sacramento State evaluates foreign credentials in-house; it accepts optional reports only from WES, ACEI or ECE (International undergraduate applicants). MS Computer Science applicants must send one (International graduate applicants).

Who can translate my transcripts for Sacramento State?

Graduate admissions asks for an English translation through a translation agency (International graduate applicants); the catalog asks for a certified English translation (Catalog: international admissions). A certified translation from eVerbary meets both.

Do I send the original-language transcript too?

Yes. Graduate applicants submit transcripts in the native language as well as the translation (International graduate applicants), and undergraduates send the official records with the translation (Catalog: international admissions).

Can I upload unofficial copies first?

Yes. Sacramento State recommends unofficial scans for the review and requests official documents at enrollment (International undergraduate applicants).

My bachelor's degree took three years. What do I need?

A third-party evaluation from WES, ECE or ACEI is recommended for a 3-year degree (International graduate applicants).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
