Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Ramapo requirements in detail

Translation

High school transcripts or mark sheets must be translated into English and be official (International admission requirements).

Who may translate

Not stated.

What the records must show

All subjects studied, grades earned, examinations passed and the dates diplomas, certificates and degrees were earned (International admission requirements).

Evaluation

College or university transcripts from outside the US: course by course, by any NACES member; SpanTran (now The Evaluation Company) offers a Ramapo application at a discount (International admission requirements).

Graduate

Course-by-course NACES evaluation showing the equivalent of a US bachelor's degree (Graduate school requirements).

How to apply

Common App or Ramapo application ($65); supporting credentials not attached to the Common App go by mail to Mahwah (International admission requirements).

Who counts as international

Only F-1 or J-1 visa holders; apply at least six months ahead (International transfer students).

High school records: translated, complete and dated

Ramapo's list for international first-year applicants asks for official transcripts or mark sheets from high school, translated into English.

They should name every subject studied, the grades earned, the examinations passed and the dates diplomas, certificates and degrees were awarded (admission requirements).

Translate the exam certificates and the page with the award date along with the transcript; a translation that omits them leaves the file incomplete.

Supporting documents not attached to your Common Application are mailed to the Office of Admissions in Mahwah, so ask for the certified translation as a PDF you can print and send with the official records.

College study abroad: a NACES evaluation

If you studied at a college or university outside the US, as a first-year, transfer or graduate applicant, that transcript must be evaluated course by course by a current NACES member.

SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, has a custom application for Ramapo at a discounted rate (International admission requirements, graduate).

TEC accepts outside translations only from ATA-certified translators or translates in house (TEC); eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator on request through a free quote. Other NACES members have their own rules.

Credit is awarded course by course from that evaluation, and only the credits transfer: the grades do not, and your Ramapo GPA reflects only Ramapo courses (catalog). Graduate applicants' evaluations must show the equivalent of a US bachelor's degree (Graduate school requirements).

International transfer applicants

For Ramapo, only students with an F-1 or J-1 visa count as international students.

They use a special application from the Office of Admissions, should apply at least six months before they plan to enroll, must have completed the equivalent of US high school, and take the TOEFL (international transfer).

Permanent residents, refugees and some other visa categories are treated like US citizens for tuition (International transfer students).

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Ramapo

  • Mail the official high school records with their English translations to the Office of Admissions, 505 Ramapo Valley Road, Mahwah, unless they are attached to your Common Application (International admission requirements).

  • For college records, the translation goes to the NACES agency with your transcript, and the agency sends its course-by-course evaluation to Ramapo.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Ramapo that means we translate your high school and college records; the course-by-course NACES evaluation is ordered by you from the agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Ramapo require a translation of my high school transcript?

Yes. Transcripts must be translated into English and be official (International admission requirements).

Who may translate for Ramapo?

Ramapo does not say (International admission requirements); a certified translation from a professional service meets the rule.

Do I need a credential evaluation?

For college or university transcripts from outside the US, yes: course by course, from a NACES member (International admission requirements).

Will my grades from abroad count in my Ramapo GPA?

No. Only the credits transfer; the grades do not (Catalog 2024–2025: transfer policies).

How early should an international transfer student apply?

At least six months before planning to enroll (International transfer students).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
