Requirements checked on October 28, 2026 from PUCPR's public pages (sources).
The Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico asks international applicants for apostilled transcripts and, if they have university courses or degrees, an evaluation of the transcript from a NACES member in the United States; graduate applicants are told to follow the evaluating agency's own requirements.
PUCPR's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
PUCPR itself publishes no translation rule; you order the translation for the agency first, and the agency then writes the evaluation, which we do not provide.
PUCPR at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
PUCPR asks international applicants with university studies for an evaluation from a NACES member (international requirements), and WES accepts a certified translation from a professional service (WES translation rules); ECE, another NACES member, accepts one as well. Sample translation: a Congolese secondary school transcript
This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with a fictitious student. The PDF starts with the signed certification page, and the translation follows the original line for line: every abbreviation is explained, stamps, seals and signatures are noted in brackets, and the grid stays the same, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice
- Two school years in the same grid as the original: every subject, grading period, exam and total, so each grade can be read against its maximum.
- The French rating abbreviations are translated (TB becomes VG, Very good), and every abbreviation is explained in a translator's note at the foot of the same page, including one the original never defines.
- Dates are written the US way (the original's 02/07/2015 is February 7, 2015).
- The photo, seals and signatures are noted in brackets where they appear.

PUCPR requirements in detail
Translation
PUCPR states no translation rule (International requirements). The NACES agency needs an English translation before it can evaluate a document not in English.
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency. WES and ECE accept a translation from a professional service (see below).
Evaluation
From a US evaluation agency that is a NACES member, for applicants with university courses or degrees; graduate applicants should follow the agency's specific requirements, and some programs require it (International requirements).
Apostille
Pre-university and university transcripts, degree certificate, sworn statement of finances and bank statement, all apostilled (International requirements).
High school studies abroad
Convalidation by the Puerto Rico Department of Education, requested at ueeh@de.pr.gov or in person after arrival (International requirements).
Financial
Sworn statement and a bank statement covering at least one year of costs, for on-campus study (International requirements).
Language of the page
PUCPR publishes its international requirements in Spanish and English (International requirements).
Spanish records: PUCPR reads them, the NACES agency does not
PUCPR asks for no translation of its own; its international requirements list apostilled records and, for anyone with university courses or degrees, an evaluation from a NACES member in the United States (international requirements).
The agency is the one that needs English.
WES asks, for evaluations processed in the US, for an English translation of every document not in English, including Spanish, made word for word by a professional translator; English versions issued by the school do not replace that translation.
ECE also evaluates from English: it asks for complete, word-for-word translations in the same format as the original, lets applicants prepare them, and sells an $85 Translation Waiver under which it translates internally for the report.
Undergraduate, transfer and graduate applicants
A first-year applicant with only secondary studies abroad does not use a NACES agency: the high school record is convalidated by the Puerto Rico Department of Education, which can also be done in person after arrival (International requirements).
Transfer applicants add apostilled university transcripts and the NACES evaluation.
Graduate applicants submit the apostilled university transcript and degree certificate, and the NACES evaluation, which some programs require; PUCPR tells them to consider the specific requirements of the evaluating agency (International requirements).
If those records are not in English, that means translating every university transcript and the degree for the agency.
Need a certified translation for PUCPR?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- University transcripts, every year, for the NACES evaluation
- Degree certificate (título)
- Grading scale printed with the transcripts
- Apostille certificates attached to each record
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to PUCPR
The translation goes to the NACES agency with your apostilled records (WES, for example, takes it in your WES account); the agency then sends its evaluation certification to PUCPR Admissions, and the apostilled records are uploaded through PUCPR's admission documents form as PDF or JPG.
eVerbary delivers a signed PDF; on request we can also email the translation directly to the admissions office.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For PUCPR that means we translate your records for the NACES agency; we do not issue apostilles, the evaluation, or the Department of Education convalidation.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does PUCPR need my Spanish transcript translated?
PUCPR itself does not ask for a translation (International requirements). If you need a NACES evaluation, the agency does: WES requires English translations of documents not in English, Spanish included (WES).
Who needs a NACES evaluation for PUCPR?
Applicants with university courses or degrees, and graduate applicants whose program requires it (International requirements).
What about my high school diploma from abroad?
It is convalidated by the Puerto Rico Department of Education, not by a NACES agency (International requirements).
Which documents must be apostilled?
Transcripts, the degree certificate, the sworn statement of finances and the bank statement (International requirements).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
