Requirements checked on October 28, 2026 from Ottawa University's public pages (sources).
Ottawa University requires applicants with foreign college credentials to have them evaluated by a NACES member, such as ECE, FACS, GCE or WES, while applicants with no college courses abroad send only a high school graduation certificate, which needs no evaluation.
Ottawa University's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
The translation goes to the agency with your records first; the evaluation itself is something we do not provide.

Sample translation: a Congolese secondary school transcript
This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with a fictitious student. The PDF starts with the signed certification page, and the translation follows the original line for line: every abbreviation is explained, stamps, seals and signatures are noted in brackets, and the grid stays the same, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice
- Two school years in the same grid as the original: every subject, grading period, exam and total, so each grade can be read against its maximum.
- The French rating abbreviations are translated (TB becomes VG, Very good), and every abbreviation is explained in a translator's note at the foot of the same page, including one the original never defines.
- Dates are written the US way (the original's 02/07/2015 is February 7, 2015).
- The photo, seals and signatures are noted in brackets where they appear.

Ottawa University requirements in detail
Translation
No rule of its own; the evaluation agency needs the translation before it can evaluate a record not in English.
Evaluation
Foreign credentials evaluated by a NACES member, with the credential awarded and its US equivalency (Ottawa University catalog 2026-2027: foreign credential evaluation).
Agencies named
A sampling of NACES members: ECE, Foreign Academic Credentials Service, Global Credential Evaluators and WES (Ottawa University catalog 2026-2027: foreign credential evaluation).
Who may translate
High school only
No college courses abroad: submit a high school graduation certificate, which needs no evaluation (Ottawa University catalog 2026-2027: foreign credential evaluation).
GPA
US-equivalent 2.5 for first-year, 2.0 for transfer (with a 70% completion rate), 3.0 for graduate applicants (first-year, transfer, graduate).
Exceptions
At the discretion of the University Registrar (Ottawa University catalog 2026-2027: foreign credential evaluation).
Who needs an evaluation at Ottawa University
Ottawa University's catalog draws the line at college work.
If you have taken college-level courses outside the US, a NACES member must evaluate your credentials and report the credential awarded and its US equivalency, and you pay the agency.
If you have not, you submit only a certificate of graduation from a high school, and that certificate does not need an evaluation; the catalog does not say it needs a translation either, so ask Admissions if yours is not in English.
International applicants also meet program criteria, show one year of funds with an affidavit of financial support, write a two-page "Sense of Purpose" essay and verify English proficiency (international requirements).
The GPA thresholds are US-equivalent, which is why the evaluation matters for transfer and graduate applicants.
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not translate (WES).
ECE accepts complete, literal, word-for-word translations, including your own, or translates internally for an $85 waiver (ECE).
GCE accepts translations from the issuing university, the Ministry of Education or an ATA-certified translator (GCE); if you pick GCE, eVerbary can provide an ATA-certified translator through a free quote. Choose the agency first, then order the translation to its rules.

Uploading the translation to Ottawa University
The translation goes to the NACES agency with your records; the agency sends its report to Ottawa University's Office of Admissions (Ottawa University catalog 2026-2027: foreign credential evaluation).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Ottawa University that means we translate your records; the NACES evaluation is ordered by you from the agency after the translation is ready.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
