How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Grand Canyon University publishes no translation rule of its own: secondary work from abroad reaches it through an official evaluation in English sent by a university-approved evaluation service, and every international college transcript must be evaluated by one too.
GCU's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and FCSA, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency; the agency writes the evaluation, which we do not provide.

GCU requirements in detail
Translation
GCU states no rule on who translates; records from abroad reach it through an approved evaluation. The translation is what the agency needs before it can evaluate a document not in English.
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency (see below).
Secondary school
An official evaluation of secondary work, in English, sent directly by a university-approved evaluation service; IB and overseas US-accredited schools send transcripts directly (GCU: University Policy Handbook, fall 2026 (PDF)).
College transcripts
Official transcripts, in English or with a translation, sent by the college, and an approved evaluation; no transfer credit from foreign credentials without one (GCU: University Policy Handbook, fall 2026 (PDF)).
Approved agencies
APIE, ACEI, AERC, AAE, AICE, ECE, ERES, Evaluation Service, FIS, FCSA, GCE, ICD, IERF, Josef Silny, Scholaro and WES; evaluations within one year of the application, paid by the student (GCU: University Policy Handbook, fall 2026 (PDF)).
Graduate
Three-year bachelor's degrees from Bologna countries, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and India (B.Com, BCA) are considered if the evaluation says the degree prepares for graduate study (GCU: University Policy Handbook, fall 2026 (PDF)).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
GCU's handbook lists sixteen approved agencies (University Policy Handbook). WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator or service and not the applicant.
ECE accepts complete, literal translations in the original's format and sells an $85 Translation Waiver.
FCSA wants a certified English translation, from most professional agencies in the US or abroad, and lets applicants translate Spanish documents themselves.
Josef Silny, ACEI and GCE take outside translations only from ATA-certified translators; for those, eVerbary can assign one through a free quote.
The handbook adds that if the evaluation agency cannot translate the transcripts, applicants may be able to get official translations at consulates, embassies or university language departments (GCU: University Policy Handbook, fall 2026 (PDF)).
That is a suggestion, not a limit; the agency's own rule decides which translations it accepts.
Where GCU's pages differ
The international students page presents two services, FCSA for evaluations and FIS for evaluation and translation, and says those requests must originate from GCU (international students).
The policy handbook lists sixteen approved agencies and says the evaluation fee is the student's (GCU: University Policy Handbook, fall 2026 (PDF)). Ask your GCU counselor which route applies before ordering.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to GCU
The translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records; the agency sends its evaluation directly to GCU (GCU: University Policy Handbook, fall 2026 (PDF)). If your counselor starts the request with FCSA or FIS, send the translation to that agency.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For GCU that means we translate your records for the agency; the evaluation is ordered from an approved service, or through GCU for FCSA and FIS.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Grand Canyon University require a certified translation?
GCU itself publishes no rule on who translates; it requires an approved evaluation (GCU: University Policy Handbook, fall 2026 (PDF)), and the agency sets the translation rule.
Which evaluation agencies does GCU accept?
Sixteen, including WES, ECE, IERF, FCSA, FIS and Josef Silny (GCU: University Policy Handbook, fall 2026 (PDF)).
Does GCU accept a three-year bachelor's degree for a master's?
From Bologna countries, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and India (B.Com, BCA), if the evaluation states that the degree prepares you for graduate study (GCU: University Policy Handbook, fall 2026 (PDF)).
How old can my evaluation be?
It must have been done within one year of your application (GCU: University Policy Handbook, fall 2026 (PDF)).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
