Requirements checked on October 27, 2026 from Oglethorpe's public pages (sources).

Oglethorpe University asks international first-year and transfer applicants for official English evaluations of all foreign education documents from a NACES member: document-by-document with GPA for high school, course-by-course with GPA for college.

Oglethorpe's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and IERF, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

You order the translation first and send it to the agency; the evaluation comes from the agency, not from us.

Sample translation: a Brazilian university transcript

This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with invented names, school and numbers. The original in Portuguese sits next to our English translation, and the PDF starts with the signed certification page. Bracketed text in the translation is a translator's note: each abbreviation is spelled out the first time it appears, and the layout follows the original line for line, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice

  • CPF, RG, MEC, D.O.U., CH, CR and ENADE are spelled out in brackets the first time they appear, and only then.
  • Status codes (AP, RM, RF, AE) are explained on first use, so a course failed and retaken the next term reads correctly.
  • Grades, decimal commas and dates stay exactly as printed; the date format is noted once. Converting grades is the evaluator's job.
  • Terms, rows and columns follow the original line for line, so each course can be matched at a glance.

Oglethorpe requirements in detail

Translation

Oglethorpe states no translation rule of its own; foreign records reach it as official English evaluations (International application). The agency needs the translation before evaluating a document not in English.

Who may translate

Set by the NACES agency: WES wants a professional translator; ECE and IERF accept a literal translation.

Evaluation

Official English evaluations of all foreign education documents from a NACES member (International application).

Report type

High school: document-by-document, including GPA. College: course-by-course, including GPA (International application).

Deadlines

June 1 for fall, November 1 for spring (International application).

F-1 documents

Passport picture page and proof of funding for one full year, by sponsor bank statements or a bank letter (International application).

What each evaluation agency asks for the translation

Oglethorpe accepts any NACES member, so the agency's rule applies. WES asks for an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept translations by applicants.

ECE accepts complete, literal translations in the same format as the original, including your own, or translates internally for an $85 waiver. IERF wants typed, line-by-line translations and may require a professional one.

Ask for the GPA

Oglethorpe wants the GPA in both reports: document-by-document with GPA for the high school record, course-by-course with GPA for college.

Transfer applicants need the course-by-course report for every college attended (International application).

Translate every year of grades and the grading scale so the agency can compute it; bank statements for the F-1 funding proof can be translated in the same order.

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Oglethorpe

  • The translation goes to the NACES agency with your records; the official English evaluation goes to Oglethorpe's Office of Admission, 4484 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta (International application).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Oglethorpe that means we translate your records and bank statements; the NACES evaluation with GPA is ordered by you.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Oglethorpe need an evaluation of my high school transcript?

Yes, a document-by-document evaluation including GPA from a NACES member (International application).

Which evaluation agency should I use?

Any NACES member (International application). Compare their translation rules: WES, for example, wants a professional translator (WES).

What are the deadlines?

June 1 for fall and November 1 for spring (International application).

What do transfer applicants submit?

A course-by-course evaluation including GPA for each college or university transcript (International application).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
