How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026

Northwest University publishes no translation rule of its own: every transcript from a school outside the US must come with an official evaluation for US degree equivalency and GPA from a NACES member, course by course only for programs with prerequisites or for transfer credit.

Northwest's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

You order the translation first and send it to the agency; the agency writes the evaluation, which we do not provide.

Northwest at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Northwest asks for an evaluation from any NACES-approved agency (international transcripts), and WES, a NACES member, accepts a certified translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules); ECE accepts one as well, while TEC, which has a Northwest discount page, asks for a translator certified by ATA. Northwest requirements in detail

Translation

Northwest states no translation rule; transcripts from abroad reach it through a NACES evaluation. The translation is what the agency needs before it can evaluate a document not in English.

Who may translate

Set by the evaluation agency (see below).

Evaluation

An official evaluation for US degree equivalency and GPA by a NACES member, for any school outside the US (Northwest University: international transcripts).

Course by course

Only if your program has prerequisite courses, such as the PsyD, or you want transfer credit (Northwest University: international transcripts; graduate).

Recommended agency

The Evaluation Company (TEC), with a discounted Northwest landing page and faster turnaround (Northwest University: international transcripts).

Undergraduate

$30 application fee, a Faith Statement Essay, passport copy and an official bank statement for at least $51,434 (Northwest University: international undergraduate admissions).

What each evaluation agency asks for the translation

Northwest accepts any NACES member, so you can choose by translation rule. WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator or service and does not accept translations by applicants.

ECE wants complete, literal translations in the original's format and lets applicants translate themselves, or sells an $85 Translation Waiver under which it translates internally for the report.

The Evaluation Company, which Northwest suggests for its discount, asks for an outside translator certified by the American Translators Association, or translates through its own team.

If you choose TEC, eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA through a free quote, for the languages ATA certifies.

Which evaluation type you need

The basic report is US degree equivalency and GPA, and it is enough for most applicants with a high school or university record from abroad (international transcripts).

A course-by-course report is needed only for programs with prerequisite courses, the PsyD for example, or when you want credit transferred; graduate applicants who want credit request it from an NU-approved evaluator (graduate admissions).

Students transferring from a US school need no evaluation, and their official transcripts go directly from the school to international@northwestu.edu or by mail.

Documents applicants usually translate

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Northwest

  • The translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records (WES takes it in your WES account); the agency sends the evaluation to Northwest. Other documents go through the Northwest application portal or to international@northwestu.edu (Northwest University: international transcripts).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Northwest that means we translate your records for the agency; the NACES equivalency or course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Northwest University require a certified translation?

Northwest itself publishes no translation rule; it requires a NACES evaluation of any transcript from outside the US (Northwest University: international transcripts), and the agency asks for the translation.

Do I need a course-by-course evaluation for Northwest?

Only for programs with prerequisite courses, such as the PsyD, or for transfer credit; otherwise US degree equivalency and GPA is enough (Northwest University: international transcripts).

Can I use an eVerbary translation with TEC?

TEC asks for an outside translator certified by ATA (TEC). eVerbary can provide one through a free quote, for Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) or Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page).

How much money must my bank statement show?

At least $51,434 for undergraduate study (Northwest University: international undergraduate admissions).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
