How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

Northern Essex Community College asks F-1 applicants for the high school diploma and/or transcript with an English translation, and does not say who must translate.

Northern Essex Community College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

It also requires an evaluation of the secondary record, and accepts evaluations only from CED, WES, SpanTran or IERF; that evaluation is something we do not provide.

NECC at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

NECC's international checklist asks for the high school diploma and/or transcript "with English translation" and does not restrict who translates (international checklist); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. NECC requirements in detail

Translation

High school diploma and/or transcript with English translation (International students: application process and required forms).

Evaluation (F-1)

Required for the secondary record, by a certified evaluation company; only CED, WES, SpanTran and the International Education Research Foundation are accepted (International students: application process and required forms).

College credits abroad

A course-by-course evaluation from one of the same agencies (International students: application process and required forms).

Bank letter

Notarized, in English, on bank letterhead, signed, issued within 4 months, with the balance converted to US dollars; letters not in English are refused (International students: application process and required forms).

Residents and US applicants

Foreign diplomas and transcripts must be evaluated by a recognized agency such as CED (application form, Spanish).

Deadlines (F-1)

Recommended: July 15 for fall and December 15 for spring; documents at least 30 days before the semester (International students: application process and required forms).

A translation and an evaluation, from a closed list

After you apply online, NECC emails a student ID within 3 to 4 business days, and you use it to upload documents through the International Secure Form Submission page; NECC asks you not to email any documents (International students: application process and required forms).

The first item is the high school diploma and/or transcript with English translation; the second is an evaluation of the same record by a certified evaluation company.

Unlike many colleges that accept any NACES member, NECC says it will only accept evaluations from four companies: CED, WES, SpanTran and IERF (International students: application process and required forms).

Their translation rules differ.

WES wants a professional translator, not the applicant; IERF wants a line-by-line, word-for-word typed translation and may ask for a professional one; SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, takes outside translations only from ATA-certified translators, which eVerbary can provide on request through a free quote.

One certified translation can serve NECC and the agency if it meets the agency's rule.

The bank letter must already be in English

NECC's financial rule is strict: a notarized bank letter, written in English and issued within the last 4 months, on official letterhead, signed by a bank official and showing the balance converted to US dollars.

The page lists letters not in English among those it will not accept (International students: application process and required forms), so ask the bank for an English letter rather than translating a local one.

Residents applying with the general application follow a similar path: foreign diplomas and transcripts must be evaluated for US equivalency by a recognized agency, with CED as the example (Admissions application, Spanish version (PDF)).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For NECC that means we translate your diploma and transcripts; the evaluation from CED, WES, SpanTran or IERF is ordered by you from the agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does NECC require a translation of my high school diploma?

Yes. F-1 applicants submit the diploma and/or transcript with an English translation (International students: application process and required forms).

Which evaluation companies does NECC accept?

Only CED, WES, SpanTran and the International Education Research Foundation (International students: application process and required forms).

Can I translate my bank letter?

NECC wants the bank letter itself written in English and says it will not accept letters not in English (International students: application process and required forms).

Can I email my documents?

No. NECC asks for uploads through the International Secure Form Submission page (International students: application process and required forms).

I am a resident with a diploma from another country. What do I need?

An evaluation of your foreign diploma and transcripts by a recognized agency such as CED (Admissions application, Spanish version (PDF)).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
