How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Northampton Community College (NCC) requires international transcripts to be evaluated course-by-course by a NACES-approved agency, naming SpanTran (now The Evaluation Company), ECE and WES.
NCC's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; SpanTran asks for a translator individually certified by ATA, which eVerbary provides on request.
The translation comes first and goes to the agency; the evaluation itself is something we do not produce.
NCC at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
NCC asks for a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES agency such as SpanTran, ECE or WES (transfer in); WES accepts a translation from a professional translation service (WES) and ECE any complete, literal translation (ECE).
SpanTran, The Evaluation Company, requires an ATA-certified outside translator (TEC). Policy checked on October 26, 2026.

Worth knowing about NCC

No translation rule
The agency sets the translation rule.
NCC requirements in detail
Translation
NCC publishes no translation rule of its own; the evaluation agency asks for the translation of records not in English.
Evaluation
International transcripts are evaluated course-by-course by a NACES-approved agency, including SpanTran (NCC student rate), ECE and WES (Transfer in).
Who may translate
F-1 file
Online application, passport, certification of finance with $30,040 available, $300 deposit, then placement tests or English proof before the I-20 (International student admissions).
Deadlines (F-1)
Fall: July 1. Spring: December 1. Summer II: June 1 (International student admissions).
NCC leaves the translation to the evaluation agency
NCC's F-1 steps do not ask for translated diplomas: you apply online, upload your passport, the certification of finance and bank letters, pay a $300 deposit, and take placement exams or send TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo or other scores (International student admissions).
For foreign academic records, the rule is on the transfer page: international transcripts must be evaluated course-by-course by a NACES-approved agency, and NCC lists SpanTran with an NCC student rate, Education Credential Evaluators and World Education Services; the Admissions Office advises on the choice (Transfer in).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES: an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator or translation service; no translations by applicants; WES does not translate (WES).
ECE: complete, literal, word-for-word translations in the original format, including your own; ECE also sells an $85 waiver and translates internally for the report only (ECE).
SpanTran / The Evaluation Company: an outside translator must be certified by the American Translators Association, or you buy TEC's own translation (TEC).
If you want the NCC student rate with SpanTran, eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator on request: ask for a free quote and say it is for TEC.
Need a certified translation for NCC?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts and diploma
- University transcripts and degree certificates
- Bank letters for the certification of finance, if not in English
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to NCC
The translation goes to the NACES agency with your records; the agency sends NCC the course-by-course evaluation (Transfer in). Financial documents are uploaded to the Dropbox link NCC's International Student Services sends you (International student admissions).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For NCC that means we translate your records for the agency; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from SpanTran, ECE, WES or another NACES member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does NCC need my transcripts translated?
NCC asks for a NACES course-by-course evaluation of international transcripts (Transfer in); the agency needs the translation for records not in English.
Which agency should I use?
Any NACES-approved agency; NCC names SpanTran (with a student rate), ECE and WES (Transfer in).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for SpanTran?
Yes, on request, through a free quote: Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian at $34.95 per page, or Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian at $44.95 per page. ATA certifies no other languages into English (TEC rule).
Does WES accept my own translation?
No. WES requires a professional translator (WES).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
