Requirements checked on October 27, 2026 from North Central's public pages (sources).
North Central College in Naperville publishes no translation rule of its own: transfer applicants who attended an institution outside the US submit a course-by-course evaluation from The Evaluation Company, WES or ECE, plus course descriptions in English, and graduate applicants a course-by-course evaluation from WES or ECE sent directly by the agency.
North Central's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency with your records; the evaluation is something we do not produce.

Sample translation: a Brazilian university transcript
This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with invented names, school and numbers. The original in Portuguese sits next to our English translation, and the PDF starts with the signed certification page. Bracketed text in the translation is a translator's note: each abbreviation is spelled out the first time it appears, and the layout follows the original line for line, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice
- CPF, RG, MEC, D.O.U., CH, CR and ENADE are spelled out in brackets the first time they appear, and only then.
- Status codes (AP, RM, RF, AE) are explained on first use, so a course failed and retaken the next term reads correctly.
- Grades, decimal commas and dates stay exactly as printed; the date format is noted once. Converting grades is the evaluator's job.
- Terms, rows and columns follow the original line for line, so each course can be matched at a glance.

North Central requirements in detail
Translation
No rule of its own; the translation is what the evaluator needs.
Who may translate
Transfer applicants
Course-by-course evaluation for US equivalency by The Evaluation Company, WES or ECE (discounts with TEC and ECE), and course descriptions in English (International undergraduate students: how to apply).
Graduate applicants
Official course-by-course evaluation by WES or ECE, sent directly by the agency (International graduate applicants).
First-year applicants
Official high school transcripts for the last three years and certification of graduation (International undergraduate students: how to apply).
Timing
Apply at least 6 weeks before the semester; decision in about two weeks once complete (International undergraduate students: how to apply).
English
TOEFL 79 (or 4.5), IELTS 6.5, Duolingo 120 and others for direct admission; lower scores with Excel coursework or conditional admission (International undergraduate students: how to apply).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
For transfer applicants North Central names three NACES agencies. WES requires a word-for-word translation by a professional translator, does not accept translations made by applicants and does not translate itself.
ECE asks for a complete, literal translation in the same format as the original, lets applicants translate their own documents and sells an $85 Translation Waiver for its internal use only.
The Evaluation Company wants an outside translator certified by ATA, or translates in-house.
If you choose TEC for its North Central discount, eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA for the languages ATA certifies; for WES or ECE a standard certified translation is enough. Graduate applicants choose between WES and ECE only.
Course descriptions in English
Transfer applicants also need course descriptions in English for any university-level course taken outside the US (how to apply).
North Central does not say who may produce them; if your university publishes them only in another language, a certified translation of the syllabus or course catalog pages is the usual way to supply them.

Documents applicants usually translate
- University transcripts and mark sheets, for the course-by-course evaluation
- Course descriptions or syllabi for courses taken abroad
- High school transcripts and certification of graduation
- Bachelor's degree records, for graduate applicants
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to North Central
The translation goes to the evaluator with your records; the agency sends the evaluation to North Central. Mailed transcripts go to the Office of Admission, 30 North Brainard St., Naperville (International undergraduate students: how to apply).
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for North Central, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For North Central that means we translate your records and course descriptions; the TEC, WES or ECE evaluation is ordered by you after the translation.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
