How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

College of DuPage asks F-1 applicants to send an official English translation with any original credential not in English, and its Records office says a translation is necessary for foreign transcripts it evaluates; neither page says who must translate.

College of DuPage accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Credit for study abroad also needs an evaluation from a NACES member such as ECE, WES or The Evaluation Company, which we do not provide.

COD at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

COD's international admission page requires an official English translation to accompany any original credential not in English (admission requirements) and does not restrict who translates; a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 26, 2026.

COD requirements in detail

Translation

If original credentials are not in English, an official English translation must accompany the original (International students: admissions requirements); for evaluation, a translation is necessary if the transcript is not in English (Office of Student Records: transcript evaluation).

Who may translate

Not stated.

Admission (F-1)

Proof of graduation from an accredited secondary school, plus official transcripts from any college attended, uploaded to the application; faxed or emailed copies are not accepted (International students: admissions requirements).

Evaluation

From a NACES member: course-by-course for college transcripts, general or basic for high school (Office of Student Records: transcript evaluation). COD names ECE, WES and The Evaluation Company (International transcript evaluation company listing).

Where it goes

The company sends the report directly to COD, or you bring it to the Office of Student Records in the original, unopened envelope (International transcript evaluation company listing).

Deadlines (F-1)

Fall June 30, spring November 15, summer March 1; F-1 transfers July 31, December 1 and April 1 (International students: admission deadlines).

Health sciences

An international high school or college transcript must be evaluated first (nursing packet).

Admission: a translation next to every original

COD keeps the F-1 file simple: one upload of the credentials showing completion of higher secondary school, plus official transcripts from any college or university, and if they are not in English an official English translation must accompany the original document (admission requirements).

It asks for no evaluation at this stage. Translate the secondary diploma or leaving certificate and the transcripts, and upload each translation together with its original.

COD warns that educational systems differ and invites you to contact the international admissions office if you are unsure which document it needs; ask before you translate a certificate that may not be the one it wants.

Credit: which evaluation to order, and from whom

For credit, foreign transcripts go to an evaluation company, and the Records page repeats that a translation will be necessary if the transcript is not in English (transcript evaluation).

COD lists ECE (with a discount and a free digital copy sent to COD), WES and The Evaluation Company, also discounted (company listing).

Each sets its own translation rule: WES wants a professional translator (WES); ECE accepts a complete, word-for-word translation, even your own (ECE); The Evaluation Company accepts an outside translator only if certified by ATA (TEC), which eVerbary can arrange on request through a free quote.

College transcripts need a course-by-course report.

For high school a general one usually does, but COD advises a course-by-course report if, for example, you took chemistry in high school and want it to count for a chemistry course at COD (International transcript evaluation company listing).

If you studied in a country where English is the official language, ask evaluation@cod.edu whether you need an evaluation at all (Office of Student Records: transcript evaluation).

Uploading the translation to COD

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For COD that means we translate your diplomas and transcripts; the general or course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from ECE, WES, TEC or another NACES member.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of translation does College of DuPage want?

An official English translation that accompanies the original document; COD does not say who must make it (International students: admissions requirements). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.

Do I need an evaluation to be admitted as an F-1 student?

The admission checklist asks for the credentials and their translation, not an evaluation (International students: admissions requirements). An evaluation is needed for transfer credit and for health sciences programs (Office of Student Records: transcript evaluation, Nursing (ADN) application packet (PDF)).

Which evaluation companies does COD accept?

Any NACES member; COD names ECE, WES and The Evaluation Company, two with discounts for COD students (International transcript evaluation company listing).

How long does COD take to post foreign credit?

Transcript evaluations take about four to six weeks, in the order received; you are notified by email when yours is done (Office of Student Records: transcript evaluation).

What are the F-1 deadlines?

June 30 for fall, November 15 for spring and March 1 for summer, with later dates for F-1 transfers (International students: admission deadlines).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
