How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
NCCU requires anyone educated outside the US to submit a course-by-course evaluation of all high school and college courses from a NACES service, and asks for an in-country police clearance letter, which, if not in English, needs an official English translation, notarized, in PDF.
NCCU's evaluation agencies, such as ECE, IERF, IEE and Educational Perspectives, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, and the notarized translation of the police letter is something we provide directly.
You translate first and send the records to the agency; the evaluation itself we do not provide.

NCCU requirements in detail
Translation (police clearance)
An in-country police clearance or background check letter is required; if not in English, an official English translation, in PDF and notarized (Undergraduate admissions: international students).
Academic records
Read through a course-by-course evaluation of all courses taken at a high school, college or university outside the US, from a NACES service (Undergraduate admissions: international students).
Who may translate
For the police letter, not stated. For academic records, set by the agency: ECE, IERF, IEE and Educational Perspectives accept professional translations.
Undergraduate agencies
AACRAO IES, Education Evaluators International, ECE and IERF listed; IEE, Educational Perspectives or ECE recommended; WES accepted if it meets the requirements; SpanTran offers a discounted application (Undergraduate admissions: international students).
Graduate agencies
ECE, Global Credential Evaluators, IACEI, IEE or WES; SpanTran custom application at $170 (graduate international applicants).
Who is international
Anyone who completed their education outside the US, whatever their citizenship or residency (Undergraduate admissions: international students).
Deadlines (undergraduate)
Fall April 1, spring September 1 (Undergraduate admissions: international students).
The police clearance letter and its notarized translation
NCCU asks every international first-year applicant, and transfers from a college abroad, for a PDF of an in-country police clearance or background check, a certified stamped letter from the local police (international admissions).
If the letter is not in English, NCCU wants an official English translation, in PDF, notarized to confirm accuracy and authenticity. eVerbary translates the letter with a signed certificate of accuracy and adds notarization at checkout for $34.90 per order; the PDF we deliver is the format NCCU asks for.
NCCU also counts as international anyone who completed their education outside the US, irrespective of citizenship or residency, so permanent residents with foreign records follow the same evaluation rule (Undergraduate admissions: international students).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
NCCU wants a course-by-course evaluation of all courses, high school included, and recommends IEE, Educational Perspectives or ECE.
It warns that WES does not offer course-by-course reports for high school records (Undergraduate admissions: international students).
ECE accepts a complete, word-for-word translation, including your own, and sells an $85 waiver; IERF asks for typed, line-by-line translations and may require a professional one; IEE wants a certified translator; Educational Perspectives accepts a reputable agency or certified professional translator.
Two of the graduate options are stricter: Global Credential Evaluators and IACEI accept outside translations only from ATA-certified translators (graduate list). eVerbary can assign one on request through a free quote, for the languages ATA certifies. WES accepts a professional translation for its college-level reports.

Uploading the translation to NCCU
Upload the notarized police letter translation as a PDF with your application; the evaluation agency sends its course-by-course report to NCCU (Undergraduate admissions: international students).
Graduate applicants send the official evaluation from one of the listed agencies with their School of Graduate Studies application (School of Graduate Studies: international applicants).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For NCCU that means we translate and notarize your police letter and translate your records for the agency; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from a NACES service.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
