How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

NC A&T publishes no undergraduate translation rule of its own: applicants who attended school outside the US have the transcript evaluated by WES, Educational Perspectives, IEE, Josef Silny & Associates, SpanTran or another NACES member, course by course for any college work.

NC A&T's evaluation agencies, such as WES, Educational Perspectives and IEE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

You order the translation first and send it to the agency with your records; the Graduate College's own wording is stricter, and the evaluation is something we do not provide.

NC A&T requirements in detail

Translation (undergraduate)

No translation rule; transcripts from schools outside the US are read through an agency evaluation (Undergraduate international admissions). The translation is what the agency needs before it can evaluate a document not in English.

Who may translate

Set by the evaluation agency: WES, Educational Perspectives and IEE accept professional translations; Josef Silny and SpanTran want ATA-certified translators.

Evaluation (undergraduate)

By WES, Educational Perspectives, IEE, Josef Silny & Associates, SpanTran or a NACES member; course-by-course for all post-secondary coursework (Undergraduate international admissions).

High school

All applicants must prove high school completion (Undergraduate international admissions).

Graduate

An English translation and course-by-course evaluation of transcripts and mark sheets performed by The Evaluation Company (SpanTran), WES or ECE, sent by the agency to the Graduate College (graduate admission requirements).

Graduate official transcripts

After an offer, sealed official transcripts sent by each institution to the Graduate College (Graduate admission requirements).

What each evaluation agency asks for the translation

NC A&T gives undergraduates six options (international admissions), and their translation rules differ. WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not translate documents itself.

Educational Perspectives accepts a reputable translation agency or a certified professional translator and also sells its own translations.

IEE wants a certified translator, not the applicant or a notary, and sells translations from $60 per page.

Josef Silny & Associates accepts outside translators in the US only if certified by ATA, and translates in-house. SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, likewise accepts only ATA-certified outside translators.

If you choose either, eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA on request through a free quote, for the languages ATA certifies.

The Graduate College puts the translation with the agency

Graduate applicants with transcripts from outside the US need an English translation and a course-by-course evaluation "performed by" The Evaluation Company, WES or ECE, and the agency transmits it directly to the Graduate College (graduate admission requirements).

Read literally, that asks the agency for both.

WES does not translate, so a WES applicant still supplies a professional translation to WES; ECE accepts a word-for-word translation or sells an $85 translation waiver; TEC translates in-house or accepts ATA-certified translators.

Departments review unofficial copies first; once an offer is made, official transcripts in sealed envelopes must come from each institution, and the agency sends the evaluation directly (Graduate admission requirements).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For NC A&T that means we translate your records for the agency; the evaluation is ordered by you from WES, EP, IEE, Josef Silny, SpanTran or another NACES member (TEC, WES or ECE for graduate study).

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does NC A&T require a certified translation?

The undergraduate page states no translation rule; it requires an agency evaluation of transcripts from outside the US (Undergraduate international admissions), and the agency sets the translation rule.

Which evaluation agency should I use for NC A&T?

Undergraduates: WES, Educational Perspectives, IEE, Josef Silny, SpanTran or a NACES member (Undergraduate international admissions). Graduate applicants: The Evaluation Company, WES or ECE (Graduate admission requirements).

Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for Josef Silny or SpanTran?

Yes, on request through a free quote: $34.95 per page for Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian, $44.95 for Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian. ATA certifies no other languages into English.

Do I need a course-by-course evaluation?

Yes for any post-secondary coursework, at both levels (Undergraduate international admissions, Graduate admission requirements).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
