Mount Saint Mary College asks international applicants for official transcripts evaluated by a NACES organization such as WES: freshmen need a report showing the equivalent of a US high school diploma, transfers a course-by-course evaluation.
Mount Saint Mary College's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency with your records; the agency then writes the evaluation, which we do not provide.

Sample translation: a Congolese secondary school transcript
This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with a fictitious student. The PDF starts with the signed certification page, and the translation follows the original line for line: every abbreviation is explained, stamps, seals and signatures are noted in brackets, and the grid stays the same, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice
- Two school years in the same grid as the original: every subject, grading period, exam and total, so each grade can be read against its maximum.
- The French rating abbreviations are translated (TB becomes VG, Very good), and every abbreviation is explained in a translator's note at the foot of the same page, including one the original never defines.
- Dates are written the US way (the original's 02/07/2015 is February 7, 2015).
- The photo, seals and signatures are noted in brackets where they appear.

MSMC requirements in detail
Translation
MSMC states no translation rule; transcripts reach it through a NACES evaluation (International admissions). The translation is what the agency needs before it can evaluate a document not in English.
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency. WES and ECE accept a translation from a professional service (see below).
Evaluation
By a NACES organization such as WES; freshmen need the US equivalency of a high school diploma, transfers a course-by-course report (International admissions).
Other items
$45 application fee for international applicants, one letter of recommendation in English, SAT/ACT or TOEFL 79 / IELTS 6 (International admissions).
Financial
Certification of Finances form with a notarized affidavit of support, proof of income and bank statements no more than three months old (International admissions).
Transfer credit
Up to 66 credits from a two-year college or 90 from a four-year college (admissions FAQs).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
MSMC names WES as its example, and any NACES member will do.
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency; it does not accept translations by applicants and does not translate documents itself.
ECE asks for complete, word-for-word translations in the same format as the original and lets applicants prepare them themselves; for $85 it sells a Translation Waiver, under which ECE translates internally for the report and no translation is delivered to you.
Freshman or transfer: which report to order
The report type depends on how you apply.
A freshman needs an evaluation showing that the secondary record equals a US high school diploma; a transfer needs every course evaluated, course by course, because the Registrar uses it to decide which credits count (International admissions).
MSMC accepts up to 66 credits from a two-year college and up to 90 from a four-year college (Admissions FAQs), so a transfer student translates every year of university transcripts, the grading scale and the degree certificate.
After admission, the I-20 usually follows within two weeks of the financial documents, and students transferring from another US school add the F-1 Transfer Verification Form (International admissions).
Need a certified translation for MSMC?

Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts and diploma, for the equivalency report
- University transcripts, every year, for a course-by-course report
- Degree certificates and grading scales
- Bank statements and proof of income for the Certification of Finances
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to MSMC
The translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records (WES, for example, takes it in your WES account); the agency then sends the official evaluation to MSMC Admissions.
eVerbary delivers a signed PDF; on request we can also email the translation directly to the admissions office.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For MSMC that means we translate your records for the agency; the equivalency or course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from WES or another NACES member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does MSMC require a certified translation of my transcript?
MSMC itself publishes no translation rule. It requires an evaluation by a NACES organization such as WES (International admissions), and WES asks for a translation by a professional translator (WES).
Which evaluation do I need as a freshman?
One showing the US equivalency of a high school diploma (International admissions).
Which evaluation do I need as a transfer?
A course-by-course evaluation (International admissions).
Is there an application fee for international students?
Yes, a non-refundable $45 fee for all international applicants (International admissions).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
