How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

Moraine Valley asks international applicants for their secondary school records and any college transcripts, with an official English translation of every document issued in another language; it does not say who must translate.

Moraine Valley Community College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

Admission does not call for an agency evaluation, but a bachelor's degree earned abroad has to be evaluated for financial aid purposes, and that evaluation is something we do not provide.

Moraine Valley at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Moraine Valley's international admission page asks that an official English translation accompany documents issued in another language and does not restrict who makes it (international students); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Moraine Valley requirements in detail

Translation

An official English translation must accompany any document issued in a language other than English (International students).

Who may translate

Academic records

Secondary school records showing you completed your country's requirements for graduation, plus official transcripts from any college or university attended (International students).

Financial documents

A bank letter from the sponsor showing at least $25,000, in English and dated within 6 months of the start of the term (International students).

Evaluation for admission

Not requested; admissions staff check the documents themselves (International students).

Where to submit

Through the Moraine Valley Applicant Portal with the International Student Application; $25 nonrefundable fee (International students).

Review time

Usually 10–15 business days after a complete file arrives; overseas applicants hear within about two weeks (International students).

Foreign bachelor's (financial aid)

Must be evaluated by an accredited agency; Educational Perspectives recommended, or another NACES member (catalog).

One translation rule for three kinds of applicant

Moraine Valley's International Student Affairs office repeats the same sentence in each of its checklists: new applicants from abroad, F-1 students transferring from another US school, and international students who are not currently on an F-1 visa all submit their secondary school records and any college transcripts, and an official English translation must accompany any document issued in another language (international students).

The office does not name a translator type, ask for notarization or mention an agency evaluation for admission.

The records must show that you completed your country's requirements for graduation from secondary school, so translate the final certificate or leaving exam results along with the year-by-year marks; see high school diploma translation.

Students already on an F-1 visa add copies of every I-20 from their current and previous US schools.

Send everything at once

Moraine Valley is explicit that it will not review an incomplete application piece by piece: a partial file is not given a document-by-document evaluation, you are told it is incomplete, and admission is delayed (International students).

A complete file is usually reviewed within 10–15 business days, and the office warns that verifying foreign documents takes longer, so applicants should plan their start date with that in mind.

Financial documents follow a different rule from academic ones: the sponsor's bank letter must show at least $25,000, be in English and be dated within 6 months of the term you apply for (International students).

The page mentions no translation option for them, so ask your bank for a letter in English, or ask the office before you send a translated one.

Evaluations elsewhere at Moraine Valley

Two catalog rules involve an evaluation agency rather than a translation.

Financial aid treats a bachelor's degree earned abroad like a US one only after an accredited agency confirms the equivalence; Moraine Valley recommends Educational Perspectives and points to the NACES list for others (financial aid).

Refugees from Iraq and Afghanistan can ask to be reimbursed for foreign transcript evaluations at the Enrollment Services office, Building S, Room 116 (admission and registration).

An agency usually needs its own translation of the documents first; see translation for credential evaluation.

Need a certified translation for Moraine Valley?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

  • Secondary school transcripts or mark sheets and the completion certificate or diploma
  • National exam results, where an exam completes secondary school
  • College or university transcripts and degree certificates
  • Any other record in the file not issued in English

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Moraine Valley

  • Register in the Moraine Valley Applicant Portal, complete the International Student Application and add the records with their official English translations; applications are processed once the $25 fee is paid (International students).

  • Questions about the file go to international-admissions@morainevalley.edu; the office asks applicants not to write about status until the two-week review period has passed (International students).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Moraine Valley that means we translate your school records; the evaluation of a foreign bachelor's degree for financial aid, or any evaluation you are reimbursed for as a refugee, comes from an evaluation agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
