How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
City Colleges of Chicago runs international admission centrally for its seven colleges, and its admissions packet says all foreign transcripts must be official, translated and evaluated, without saying who must translate.
City Colleges of Chicago accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Every secondary and post-secondary credential from outside the US also needs an evaluation from a NACES member, sent by the agency to the registrar of your college, and that evaluation is something we do not provide.
City Colleges at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
The district's International Student Admissions packet requires foreign transcripts to be "official, translated, and evaluated" and does not restrict who translates (admissions packet); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation.
The NACES agencies take one too: WES asks for a professional translator (WES). Policy checked on October 26, 2026.

City Colleges requirements in detail
Translation
All foreign transcripts must be official, translated and evaluated (International Student Admissions Information Packet (PDF, ccc.edu)).
Who may translate
Not stated.
Evaluation
Transcripts, diplomas and certificates from secondary or post-secondary schools outside the US, by a NACES member you choose and pay (Apply for international admission from your home country).
For transfers a catalog match evaluation is strongly recommended, not required (Apply for international admission as a transfer student).
Where it goes
The final evaluation goes to the Registrar's Office of the college you choose, by sealed envelope or secure electronic transfer from the evaluator; email attachments are not accepted (International Student Admissions Information Packet (PDF, ccc.edu)).
Deadlines (F-1)
November 1 for spring, April 1 for summer, June 1 for fall (International Student Admissions Information Packet (PDF, ccc.edu)).
Bank letter
If you send a certified bank letter instead of the verification form, it must be in English (International Student Admissions Information Packet (PDF, ccc.edu)).
Foreign college credit
College credit taken abroad requires an evaluation from a NACES approved evaluator, for any student (catalog).
One district rule for seven colleges
International students apply once, at apply.ccc.edu, and the same three checklists (from your home country, change of visa status, F-1 transfer) apply at all seven colleges (home country, transfer).
What changes by college is where your papers go.
Evaluations are sent to the registrar of your home campus, each with its own address and email, such as hwregistrar@ccc.edu at Harold Washington or wrregistrar@ccc.edu at Wright (registrar list).
Supplemental forms go to Admissions and Advising at Truman and Wright, the International Student Office at Harold Washington, and the Office of the Registrar at Daley, Kennedy-King, Malcolm X and Olive-Harvey (packet).
The college copies of the transfer page are not always current: the Truman page still shows bank minimums of $24,120 for sponsors and $34,120 for self-sponsored students (Truman), while the district page asks for $27,912 and $37,912 (district).
Each college also has its own TOEFL code, so send scores to the one you chose.
Translation first, then a NACES evaluation of everything
The district web pages speak only of the evaluation: all secondary and post-secondary credentials from outside the US go to a NACES member, and provisional or unofficial transcripts are not accepted (Apply for international admission from your home country).
The packet adds the translation, so plan both: translate your high school diploma, transcripts and any university records, then send them with the originals to the agency.
Its own rules apply there: WES wants a professional translator and refuses translations made by applicants (WES); ECE lets applicants translate their own documents word for word (ECE). See translation for credential evaluation.
Residents and immigrants with foreign records
The catalog admits graduates of accredited high schools or their foreign equivalents to credit programs, and any college credit earned abroad is counted only with a NACES evaluation; college transcripts more than one year past their print date are not accepted (catalog).
Selective programs ask for more: the Malcolm X nursing program wants official high school or GED transcripts at its registrar (Malcolm X nursing).

Uploading the translation to City Colleges
The translation goes to the NACES agency with your records; the agency sends the official, final evaluation to the registrar of your college by sealed envelope or secure electronic transfer (International Student Admissions Information Packet (PDF, ccc.edu)).
The application and supplemental forms are filed at apply.ccc.edu, through its Document Upload page, or emailed to your college's international student advisor (International Student Admissions Information Packet (PDF, ccc.edu)).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For City Colleges that means we translate your school and university records; the NACES evaluation is ordered by you from the agency, which sends it to your college registrar.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a translation if I also get a NACES evaluation?
The district packet says foreign transcripts must be translated and evaluated (International Student Admissions Information Packet (PDF, ccc.edu)). The agency asks for the translation too, before it can evaluate a document not in English.
Who can translate my transcripts for City Colleges?
City Colleges does not say (International Student Admissions Information Packet (PDF, ccc.edu)). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Is the rule different at Truman, Wright or Harold Washington?
No. The translation and NACES rules are the district's; only the registrar or office that receives your evaluation and forms differs (Foreign transcript evaluation).
Can the agency email the evaluation as an attachment?
No. It must arrive in a sealed envelope or by secure electronic transfer from the evaluator (International Student Admissions Information Packet (PDF, ccc.edu)).
Which kind of evaluation should I order as a transfer student?
A catalog match evaluation is strongly recommended but not required (Apply for international admission as a transfer student).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
