How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026

Marist asks international applicants for official translated secondary school transcripts of all foreign credentials, examination results and grade reports included, and does not say who must translate.

Marist University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

Transfer and adult undergraduates also need a credit evaluation of foreign college records from an agency such as ECE, Josef Silny, TEC or WES, and that evaluation is something we do not provide.

Marist at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Marist's international application asks for "official translated" transcripts of all foreign academic credentials and does not restrict who translates (international apply); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Worth knowing about Marist

MSIS/MSCS FAQ: translations not usually required.

Marist requirements in detail

Translation (first-year)

Official translated high school or secondary transcripts of all foreign academic credentials, examination results and grade reports included (International student apply).

Who may translate

Transfers and adults

An official translation and credit evaluation of all foreign college or university credentials; adult applicants with an associate degree or higher skip the high school transcript (International student apply).

Evaluation agencies

Educational Credential Evaluators, Foundation for International Services, Josef Silny & Associates, TEC (formerly SpanTran) and World Education Services; no preference stated (evaluation services).

Graduate

For MSIS and MSCS, transcript translations are not usually required; applicants upload scans of mark sheets and certificates (graduate FAQ).

Financial documents

An original notarized affidavit of support signed by applicant and sponsor (International student apply).

Every foreign credential, exam results included

Marist's wording is broad: first-year applicants send official translated secondary transcripts of all foreign academic credentials, and the page spells out that this covers examination results and grade reports (International student apply).

If your country ends secondary school with a national exam, translate the exam certificate as well as the school record, with every page and the grading legend.

Transfers: a translation and a credit evaluation

Transfer and adult undergraduate applicants with college work abroad submit both an official translation and a credit evaluation of all foreign college credentials (International student apply).

Marist lists five services without a preference (International transcript evaluation services), and each has its own translation rule: WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator or service (WES); ECE accepts any complete, literal translation and sells an $85 waiver (ECE); TEC accepts an outside translator only if certified by ATA (TEC); and Josef Silny asks for ATA-certified translators in the US (Josef Silny).

One certified eVerbary translation can serve Marist and WES or ECE; for TEC or Josef Silny, ask for a free quote for an ATA-certified translator.

Graduate applicants

The graduate FAQ for the MS in Information Systems and MS in Computer Science, written largely for applicants from India, says transcript translations are not usually required; you upload semester mark sheets, the provisional certificate and the consolidated mark sheet, and can send copies of a three-year degree to graduate@marist.edu for an opinion (graduate FAQ).

Records not issued in English still need translating; check the program's own admission page.

Need a certified translation for Marist?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Secondary school transcripts and grade reports
  • National examination results or leaving certificate
  • University transcripts, for transfer credit evaluation
  • Degree certificates and mark sheets, for graduate applicants
  • Affidavit of support and bank letters, if not in English

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Marist

  • Send the official transcripts and their translations with your Marist application; transfers send the credit evaluation from the agency (International student apply). Graduate applicants upload scans to the application and email anything extra to graduate@marist.edu (International graduate FAQs).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Marist that means we translate your transcripts and exam results; the credit evaluation for transfers comes from ECE, FIS, Josef Silny, TEC or WES.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of translation does Marist accept?

An official translation; Marist does not say who must make it (International student apply). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.

Do I need to translate my national exam results?

Yes. Marist asks for translated records of all foreign credentials, examination results and grade reports included (International student apply).

Which evaluation agency should a transfer student use?

Marist lists ECE, Foundation for International Services, Josef Silny & Associates, TEC and WES without a preference (International transcript evaluation services).

Do graduate applicants need translations?

For MSIS and MSCS, translations are not usually required (International graduate FAQs); records not in English still need one.

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
