Louisiana Tech University: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language

Louisiana Tech's Graduate School asks international applicants for an English translation of their foreign transcripts and does not say who must make it; the undergraduate international pages do not mention translations at all. Louisiana Tech University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Graduate applicants also need a course-by-course evaluation sent directly by a NACES member, which we do not provide.

Louisiana Tech University: requirements for documents in another language
What Louisiana Tech asks for
Translation (undergraduate)Not mentioned on the Office of International Affairs admission page or in the 2026-2027 catalog (international page, catalog).
Translation (graduate)An English translation of foreign transcripts, uploaded with the unofficial transcripts (Graduate admission application instructions). No translator type is named.
Evaluation (undergraduate)None from an agency: the admissions coordinator assesses a 2.5 GPA on a US scale for freshmen and 2.25 for transfers (Office of International Affairs: undergraduate admissions).
Evaluation (graduate)A course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member such as WES, ECE, SpanTran or GCE, transmitted by the agency to the Graduate School (University Catalog 2026-2027: The Graduate School).
Official transcriptsSent electronically or in a sealed envelope directly from the school to the Office of International Affairs (Office of International Affairs: undergraduate admissions).
Transfer creditEvaluated by the department of the major you chose on your application (FAQ).
Does it accept eVerbary?Yes. The Graduate School's application instructions list an English translation of foreign transcripts without restricting who makes it (application instructions), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets that rule. Undergraduate: no translation rule in print

Louisiana Tech's Office of International Affairs handles undergraduate international admission. Its page lists the GPA, test and English requirements, says documents may be emailed as PDFs to international@latech.edu, and asks that official transcripts arrive electronically or sealed from the school (Office of International Affairs: undergraduate admissions). It says nothing about documents in other languages, and neither does the admissions chapter of the 2026-2027 catalog, which refers foreign applicants to a separate International Admission publication available from the international office (catalog).

Because the admissions coordinator, not an agency, converts your grades to a US scale, the coordinator has to be able to read them. If your records are not in English, ask the Office of International Affairs whether it wants a translation with the PDFs before you send them.

Graduate School: translation now, evaluation from the agency

The Graduate School's application checklist includes, for international students, an English translation of foreign transcripts alongside the unofficial transcripts you upload (Graduate admission application instructions). The 2026-2027 graduate catalog adds a course-by-course credential evaluation from a NACES member, part of a complete application, which must be transmitted directly from the agency (University Catalog 2026-2027: The Graduate School). Agencies set their own translation rules; see translation for credential evaluation.

Some programs repeat the point: the School of Design's Master of Architecture says your transcript will also have to undergo international credential evaluation, which converts grades and credits (School of Design: M.Arch admission requirements).

Where Louisiana Tech's pages differ

The graduate catalog's admission criteria say credentials of international students will be evaluated individually by the institution, while the same catalog's application section requires a NACES course-by-course evaluation sent by the agency (University Catalog 2026-2027: The Graduate School); the application instructions mention only the English translation (Graduate admission application instructions). We have not resolved that difference. Plan for both the translation and the evaluation, and confirm with the Graduate School.

Uploading the translation to Louisiana Tech

Undergraduate applicants email documents as PDFs to international@latech.edu, or mail them to the Office of International Affairs, 305 Wisteria Street, Ruston; the office suggests University Express Mail Service for courier shipments (Office of International Affairs: undergraduate admissions).

Graduate applicants upload unofficial transcripts and the English translations in the graduate application, and arrange for official transcripts and the NACES evaluation to be sent directly (instructions, catalog).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. At Louisiana Tech that means we cover the translations; the NACES course-by-course evaluation the Graduate School requires comes from an evaluation agency.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a translation to apply to Louisiana Tech as an undergraduate?

The international undergraduate page does not mention translations (Office of International Affairs: undergraduate admissions). If your records are not in English, ask the Office of International Affairs before you email them.

Who can translate my transcripts for the Louisiana Tech Graduate School?

The application instructions ask for an English translation of foreign transcripts and do not name a translator (Graduate admission application instructions). A certified translation from eVerbary qualifies.

Which evaluation does the Graduate School want?

A course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member, for example WES, ECE, SpanTran or GCE, sent directly by the agency (University Catalog 2026-2027: The Graduate School).

Who decides my transfer credit?

The department of the major you indicated on your application conducts the official evaluation of your credits (Admissions FAQ).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
