How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
The four Los Rios colleges (American River, Cosumnes River, Folsom Lake and Sacramento City) share F-1 deadlines, and each says that all non-English documents in the application must be translated into English; American River College adds that the translator must be certified.
Los Rios accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Credit for coursework from a college abroad also needs a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES or AICE member, which we do not provide.
Los Rios at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
American River College asks for every non-English document to be translated into English by a certified translator (ARC instructions), and Sacramento City, Cosumnes River and Folsom Lake ask for documents translated into English without saying who translates (SCC, CRC, FLC); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets all four. Worth knowing about Los Rios
Four lists, one deadline
May 1 for fall from abroad, at every Los Rios college.
Certified at ARC
American River names a certified translator.
Emailed as PDFs
The whole packet goes to the college's international inbox.
Los Rios requirements in detail
Translation (F-1)
Who may translate
American River: a certified translator (American River College: international student instructions). The other three colleges do not say.
Academic records
Evaluation for admission
Only Sacramento City's list asks for overseas college transcripts to be evaluated by a NACES or AICE member (Sacramento City College: international student instructions).
Foreign college credit
A course-by-course evaluation from a NACES or AICE member, showing semester or quarter units and the level of each course (Los Rios: submit transcripts and test scores).
Where it goes
The completed packet is emailed to the college's international office; Cosumnes River asks for PDFs.
Deadlines (F-1)
From abroad: May 1 for fall, November 1 for spring. F-1 transfers in the US: June 1 and November 1. Incomplete applications are not reviewed (Los Rios: international student admission steps).
One district, four document lists
Los Rios publishes the steps and deadlines once, but says the application documents and instructions are specific to each college (district steps).
All four start their list with the same line: every non-English document must be translated into English.
American River College is the only one that says who translates, a certified translator, and it also wants the bank letter itself in English and dated within three months.
Folsom Lake College applies the rule to the tuberculosis test certificate, which it asks for translated to English.
The academic item differs slightly. American River and Folsom Lake accept a copy of the high school diploma or a high school transcript showing graduation, plus copies of college transcripts.
Cosumnes River asks for the official high school diploma or transcripts and an official college transcript accompanied by translated copies, and Sacramento City College uses the same "translated copies" wording for college records.
A certified translation of the high school diploma that shows the graduation date covers the high school item at all four.
Sacramento City and foreign college transcripts
Sacramento City College's F-1 list goes further than the others: overseas college transcripts must be evaluated by a member of NACES or AICE (Sacramento City College: international student instructions).
If you studied at a college or university outside the US and apply to SCC, translate the transcript first and send it to the agency with the original; the agency's report then goes into your SCC packet.
Evaluation agencies set their own translation rules; see translation for credential evaluation.
Credit for coursework from abroad
For every Los Rios student, resident or F-1, foreign college coursework counts only after a course-by-course evaluation from a current NACES or AICE member.
Los Rios asks you to request that the report show whether units are semester or quarter units and whether each course is lower division, upper division or graduate level, and it gives no credit for high school, remedial or post-baccalaureate work (Los Rios: submit transcripts and test scores).
The report is kept as an official transcript and is not returned. Official outside transcripts are not needed for admission itself.
American River says it does not evaluate foreign transcripts itself and accepts evaluations from specific agencies named in its welcome packet.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Los Rios
Apply to one college through CCCApply, then email the completed international packet, with the translations attached next to each original, to that college: international@arc.losrios.edu, international@scc.losrios.edu, crc-internationalstudents@crc.losrios.edu (as PDFs) or InternationalStudents@flc.losrios.edu (ARC, SCC, CRC, FLC).
For credit, the translation goes to the NACES or AICE agency with your transcript; the evaluation then goes to the college's Admissions or Evaluations office by mail or email (Los Rios: submit transcripts and test scores). On request, we can email your translation directly to the office.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Los Rios that means we translate your diplomas, transcripts, bank letter and certificates; the NACES or AICE course-by-course evaluation comes from an evaluation agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does American River College require a certified translator?
Yes. ARC asks for all non-English documents to be translated into English by a certified translator (American River College: international student instructions). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets that.
Do Sacramento City, Cosumnes River and Folsom Lake accept a professional translation?
They ask for documents translated into English and do not say who must translate (SCC, CRC, FLC); a certified translation from a professional service qualifies.
Do I need a credential evaluation to apply to a Los Rios college?
For admission, only Sacramento City College asks for one, for overseas college transcripts (Sacramento City College: international student instructions). For credit, all four colleges require a NACES or AICE course-by-course evaluation (Los Rios: submit transcripts and test scores).
Will Los Rios give credit for my high school courses?
No. Los Rios gives no credit for high school, remedial or post-baccalaureate coursework (Los Rios: submit transcripts and test scores).
When are the F-1 deadlines?
From outside the US, May 1 for fall and November 1 for spring; F-1 transfers in the US, June 1 and November 1. Submit everything together: incomplete applications are not reviewed (Los Rios: international student admission steps).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
