How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Linfield University publishes no translation rule of its own: international students transferring from a college or university abroad send a WES course-by-course credential evaluation, and first-year applicants an official secondary transcript and any board exams.
Linfield's evaluation agency, WES, accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. You order the translation first and send it to WES; WES writes the evaluation, which we do not provide.

Linfield requirements in detail
Translation
Linfield states no translation rule; university records from abroad reach it through a WES evaluation. The translation is what WES needs before it can evaluate a document not in English.
Who may translate
Set by WES: a professional translator or service, not the applicant.
Evaluation
Transfers from an international college or university: a WES course-by-course credential evaluation (Linfield: international students).
First-year
An official secondary transcript through the most recent term, plus board exams if applicable (Linfield: international students).
Finances
International Financial Guarantee Form and a certified bank statement; admission is not offered if a gap remains (Linfield: international students).
Deadlines
Fall: priority April 15, reply and $200 fee June 15. Spring: priority December 1, reply January 15 (Linfield: international students).
What WES asks for the translation
Linfield names one agency, so the translation has to meet WES's rule (international students).
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation of the whole document by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency, does not accept translations made by applicants and does not translate documents itself.
Order the translation before opening the WES application and upload it with the copy of the original in your WES account; choose the course-by-course report, which is the one Linfield asks for.
Start without documents, finish by the priority date
Linfield's own application is free, takes about ten minutes and needs no official documents to start; once you say you are an international student, your status page lists the extra items (Linfield: international students).
The WES report, the transcript and the financial guarantee should all be in by the priority date, April 15 for fall or December 1 for spring, to leave time for the visa.
Students below the English score can be admitted conditionally to Linfield's English Language and Culture Program.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Linfield
The translation goes to WES with your university records; WES sends the course-by-course evaluation to Linfield. Secondary transcripts arrive through Linfield's application or the Common Application, where your counselor submits school records (Linfield: international students).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Linfield that means we translate your university records for WES; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from WES.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Linfield require a certified translation?
Linfield itself publishes no translation rule; transfer students from abroad send a WES course-by-course evaluation (Linfield: international students), and WES requires a professional translation (WES).
Can I use another evaluation agency for Linfield?
Linfield's page names only WES (Linfield: international students); ask admission before using another.
Do first-year applicants need an evaluation?
The page asks first-year applicants for an official secondary transcript and board exams, not an evaluation (Linfield: international students).
When should I apply for fall?
By the April 15 priority deadline; the reply and $200 fee are due June 15 (Linfield: international students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
