How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

Lamar State College Port Arthur requires anyone who attended a school outside the US to have official transcripts translated and evaluated for authentication through a recognized US evaluation company, in a course-by-course report with grades, a GPA and the US equivalency of the diploma, sent directly by the agency.

LSCPA's evaluation agencies, such as SDR and FCSA, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. You send the translation to the agency first; the evaluation is something we do not produce.

LSCPA at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

LSCPA asks for an evaluation from a recognized US evaluation company, listing SDR, GCE, IACEI, FCSA and AACRAO and accepting any AICE or NACES member (foreign transcript evaluation), and SDR accepts a certified translation from another certified translator (SDR rule), as do FCSA and WES; GCE and IACEI want a translator certified by ATA. LSCPA requirements in detail

Translation

Official transcripts translated and evaluated for authentication through a recognized US evaluation company; the agency sets the translation rule (Foreign transcript evaluation).

Who may translate

Set by the evaluation agency; see below.

Evaluation

Course-by-course grades, a GPA, the diploma or degree conferred and its US equivalency, original and sent directly by the agency (Foreign transcript evaluation).

Agencies

SDR (with an LSCPA portal), GCE, IACEI, FCSA and AACRAO International Education Services, or any AICE or NACES member (Foreign transcript evaluation).

Who it applies to

Anyone applying who attended a high school, college or university outside the US (Foreign transcript evaluation).

Other documents

Submitted through the International Student Document Submission Form or mailed to International Enrollment Services, PO Box 310, Port Arthur, TX 77641 (checklist).

What each evaluation agency asks for the translation

SDR, in Houston, accepts a translation by another certified translator or translates in-house. FCSA, in Austin, accepts certified translations from most professional agencies.

GCE accepts only the issuing university, the ministry or an ATA-certified translator, and IACEI also wants ATA-certified translators; for those two, ask eVerbary for a free quote and say which agency it is for.

Any NACES member is also accepted, and WES takes a word-for-word translation by a professional translator.

What the LSCPA report must contain

LSCPA asks for more than a basic report: course-by-course grades, a GPA calculation, the diploma or degree conferred and its US equivalency (Foreign transcript evaluation).

Its checklist covers all secondary and post-secondary work, so translate every high school and college transcript you send the agency (International student admissions checklist (PDF)).

The rule applies to every applicant with schooling abroad, so residents with a foreign high school diploma follow it too.

Need a certified translation for LSCPA?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • High school transcripts and diploma
  • College or university transcripts
  • Degree certificates
  • Financial statement documents, if not in English

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to LSCPA

  • The translation goes to the agency with your records; the agency forwards the original evaluation directly to LSCPA (Foreign transcript evaluation).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For LSCPA that means we translate your records; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from SDR, FCSA or another AICE or NACES member.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
