How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

Lamar Institute of Technology asks international applicants for official secondary, college or university records translated in English and evaluated for authentication by a recognized US evaluation company, and wants both the foreign documents and the translation submitted with the application; it points applicants to WES.

LIT's evaluation agencies, such as WES, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. The evaluation must be complete before LIT reviews the file, and it is something we do not produce.

Worth knowing about LIT

Original plus translation

Both go to LIT with the application.

WES linked

Any recognized US evaluation company.

Every subject and mark

Ministry exam records included.

LIT requirements in detail

Translation

Records translated in English; the foreign documents and the translation are both submitted with the application (International students).

Who may translate

Not stated by LIT; for the evaluation, set by the agency.

Evaluation

By a recognized US evaluation company, for authentication; LIT links to wes.org (International students).

What records must show

All subjects taken and grades or marks in each, for school records and Ministry of Education exams (International students).

Not accepted

Photocopies and documents not evaluated properly (International students).

Timing

The evaluation and authentication must be complete before LIT reviews the application (International students).

One translation, two destinations

LIT wants the translation twice in effect: it goes to the evaluation company, which authenticates and evaluates your records, and it is submitted to LIT's International Admissions Office together with the foreign documents (International students).

WES, the company LIT links, wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept applicants' own translations; ECE accepts any complete, literal translation.

An eVerbary certified translation is delivered as a PDF you can upload to WES and print for LIT.

Complete records, before review

LIT reads every subject: school records and Ministry of Education exam results must show each subject taken and the grade or mark earned (International students).

Translate all pages, including mark sheets for each year and exam certificates. Because the evaluation and authentication must be finished before LIT reviews your file, order the translation as soon as you have your records.

Need a certified translation for LIT?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Secondary school records and diploma
  • Ministry of Education exam results
  • College or university transcripts
  • Degree certificates

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to LIT

  • Send the translation to the evaluation company with your records, and submit the foreign documents with the same translation to LIT's International Admissions Office with your application (International students).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For LIT that means we translate your records; the evaluation for authentication is ordered by you from WES or another recognized US company.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does LIT require a translation or an evaluation?

Both: records translated in English and evaluated by a recognized US evaluation company (International students).

Which evaluation company does LIT suggest?

It links to WES (International students).

Do I send the translation to LIT too?

Yes. The foreign documents and the translation are submitted with the application (International students).

Are photocopies accepted?

No (International students).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
