How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026

La Sierra University asks international applicants for secondary school transcripts, the graduation certificate and all college transcripts, each in the original language and with a translation in English; it does not say who must translate.

La Sierra University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

Transfer and graduate students with international college study must also order an external evaluation, through ECE or another approved company, within their first quarter, which we do not produce.

La Sierra at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

La Sierra's step-by-step application guide asks for each record in the "Original language and translation in English" and names no translator (how to apply); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 27, 2026.

Original and translation, for every record

La Sierra's step-by-step application guide asks for three kinds of academic records in the Academic tab, each one in the original language and with a translation in English: the secondary school transcript for the last three years, with subjects, marks and dates of attendance and graduation; the graduation certificate, such as a Senior Middle School diploma with the graduation date; and transcripts from every college or university attended.

Keep the translation attached to each original when you upload. For the school record, see high school diploma translation.

The evaluation comes after you arrive

Undergraduate transfer students and graduate students who attended any international college or university must request an external evaluation within their first quarter of attendance, before credits can be transferred: course by course for transfers, general for graduate students.

ECE is the default, with a 10% discount link, and La Sierra also lists InCred (preferred for NAIA athletes), SpanTran/TEC, WES, IERF and Foreign Credential Evaluations; check with the Records Office or Admissions before using another (External transcript evaluation).

The evaluator may need an official transcript mailed directly by your school, in addition to the one your school mails to La Sierra, so you may need two official copies from each school.

The agency sets its own translation rule: ECE accepts complete, word-for-word translations and WES accepts professional ones, so the certified translation you used for admission can usually go to the agency too.

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to La Sierra

  • Upload each original record with its English translation in the application; your schools mail official transcripts to La Sierra Admissions, and later, if needed, a second copy to the evaluator (application guide, evaluation page).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For La Sierra that means we translate your records; the external evaluation in your first quarter is ordered by you from ECE or another approved company.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does La Sierra require English translations?

Yes. Transcripts and the graduation certificate in the original language and with a translation in English (How to apply, step by step (PDF, lasierra.edu)).

When do I need a credential evaluation?

Within your first quarter of attendance, before international college credits transfer (External transcript evaluation).

Which evaluators does La Sierra approve?

ECE, InCred, SpanTran/TEC, WES, IERF and Foreign Credential Evaluations (External transcript evaluation).

Why might I need two official transcripts?

Because the evaluator may require one mailed directly from your school, in addition to La Sierra's (External transcript evaluation).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
