How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Joliet Junior College asks F-1 applicants for documents proving they completed secondary school in their home country, with a certified English translation attached if they are not in English; it does not say who must translate.
Joliet Junior College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
JJC may also ask for an ECE or WES evaluation, and college study abroad counts only through a NACES course-by-course evaluation, which we do not provide.
JJC at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
JJC's international admission page asks for a certified English translation attached to high school documents not in English and does not restrict who makes it (international students); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. NACES for college

JJC requirements in detail
Translation (F-1)
High school equivalency documents not in English need a certified English translation attached to them (International students).
Who may translate
Not stated (International students).
Evaluation (high school)
JJC may request an additional evaluation by a service such as ECE or WES, at your expense (International students).
Evaluation (college abroad)
Only course-by-course evaluations from a NACES member (International students).
Residents with foreign transcripts
Must have them evaluated by a NACES member; the report must be course-by-course and in English (admissions).
Bank letter
Official original on bank letterhead, information in English, no more than 6 months old; the currency need not be converted to dollars (International students).
Where to send
The application and documents by email to intlstudent@jjc.edu, or by mail to International Student Services, 1215 Houbolt Rd., Joliet, IL 60431 (International students).
F-1 applicants: a translation first, an evaluation only if asked
JJC's F-1 checklist asks for whatever document shows you completed the equivalent of US high school in your home country.
If it is not in English, a certified English translation must be attached to it, and JJC reserves the right to ask for an additional evaluation by a third-party service such as Educational Credential Evaluators or World Education Services, paid by you (international students).
Translate the leaving certificate and the final marks together, so one file proves completion; see high school diploma translation.
College study abroad is handled differently: JJC accepts only course-by-course evaluations from a NACES member, while credits earned at a US college need an official transcript in a sealed, signed envelope (International students).
If JJC asks for an ECE or WES report, note that WES wants the translation from a professional translator, and ECE accepts any complete, word-for-word translation.
Where JJC's pages differ
The general admissions page, which is not specific to F-1 applicants, says students with foreign transcripts must have them evaluated by a NACES member of their choice, and that the evaluation must be a course-by-course report translated into English.
The Registrar accepts only a NACES report when high school courses could waive a college requirement or when you earned college credit abroad (admissions).
The F-1 page, by contrast, asks for a certified translation and an evaluation only if JJC requests it (international students).
The pages do not refer to each other; if you are a resident with foreign records, confirm with Admissions which applies before you pay for an evaluation.
Need a certified translation for JJC?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school leaving certificate or diploma, the proof of completion JJC asks for
- Secondary school transcripts or mark sheets
- University transcripts, for a NACES course-by-course evaluation
- Degree certificates from a college or university abroad
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to JJC
F-1 applicants email the completed International Student Application with the documents and their certified translations to intlstudent@jjc.edu, or mail them to International Student Services in Joliet (International students).
For a NACES evaluation, the translation goes with your records to the agency you choose, not to JJC; the Registrar then reads the agency's course-by-course report (Admissions: students with foreign transcripts).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For JJC that means we translate your school records; the ECE or WES evaluation JJC may request, and the NACES course-by-course report for college study abroad, come from an evaluation agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my high school documents for JJC?
JJC asks for a certified English translation attached to the documents and does not say who must make it (International students). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Do I need a WES or ECE evaluation for JJC?
For F-1 high school records, only if JJC requests one. For college study abroad, a NACES course-by-course evaluation is required (International students).
I am a resident with a diploma from another country. What does JJC need?
The admissions page says foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES member, course-by-course and in English (Admissions: students with foreign transcripts).
Does my bank letter need to be translated?
JJC asks that the information be in English; the amount can stay in your currency (International students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
