How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Huston-Tillotson University requires official transcripts from every non-US high school and college to be evaluated by a US credential evaluation service on the NACES list, document-by-document for high school records and course-by-course for college; it partners with WES and The Evaluation Company and publishes no translation rule of its own.
HT's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. The evaluation itself is ordered from the agency, and we do not produce it.

HT requirements in detail
Translation
No rule of its own; the evaluator needs the translation (International students).
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency; see below.
Evaluation
All non-US high school and college transcripts, by an official US credential evaluation service listed by NACES (International students).
Report type
Document-by-document for high school records, including secondary certificates with examination results; course-by-course for college or university records (International students).
Equivalence
You must have the equivalent of a US high school diploma (International students).
Funds and deposit
Bank statement or bank letter showing at least $25,000, dated within six months; one semester's tuition deposit before the I-20 (International students).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
HT partners with two agencies and accepts any NACES member. WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not translate itself.
The Evaluation Company asks that an outside translator be certified by ATA, or translates in-house; for TEC, eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA through a free quote.
ECE, another NACES member, accepts a complete, literal translation and sells an $85 waiver.
Exam certificates count as high school records
HT's document-by-document report covers the secondary school record including certificates with examination results, so translate the leaving certificate and the exam results with the transcript (International students).
College records need a course-by-course report. The agency sends its results to the HT Office of Recruitment and Admission in Austin.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to HT
The translation goes to WES, TEC or another NACES agency with your records; the agency sends the evaluation results to the HT Office of Recruitment and Admission (International students).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For HT that means we translate your records; the document-by-document or course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from a NACES member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
