Austin Community College: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language

Austin Community College requires a certified English translation from a certified translator for any document not in English; it does not translate documents itself and points applicants to translator directories, or to a certified translator in their home country. Austin Community College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. ACC evaluates foreign college transcripts itself, so no outside credential evaluation is needed, but it does ask for the original documents with their seal, which we cannot provide.

Austin Community College: requirements for documents in another language
What ACC asks for
TranslationA certified English translation from a certified translator, which other ACC pages call a professional translation (international, admissions).
Who may translateA certified translator; ACC suggests the Austin Area Translators & Interpreters Association and the ATA directories, and also allows a certified English translator in your home country (source).
Official documentsThe original with the issuing school's seal, or a copy certified by a US embassy or consulate or by your Ministry of Education, or a certified photocopy bearing the original seal (source).
Credential evaluationNot required. ACC evaluates foreign college transcripts itself if the school is accredited by the Ministry of Education (source).
Degree holdersIf you earned a degree abroad, evaluation is not automatic: file a Transfer Credit Evaluation Request in MyACC (source).
F-1 new studentsUpload PDF scans with the application, then hand in original transcripts or mark sheets and the diploma, with certified translations, to the International Student Office upon acceptance (source).
TimingInternational transcripts take 4–6 weeks to evaluate, in the order received (source).
Does it accept eVerbary?Yes. ACC's transcripts and translation page requires "a certified English translation from a certified translator" and lists organizations that provide document translation, so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. ACC reads your foreign transcript itself

Most colleges send foreign college records to an evaluation agency. ACC's transcript evaluation office does the work in-house: it automatically evaluates international transcripts from students without a degree, provided the institution is accredited by the Ministry of Education in its country, and it reviews only freshman- and sophomore-level courses passed with a C or better. Students who completed a degree abroad file a Transfer Credit Evaluation Request in MyACC instead. Either way, allow 4–6 weeks.

That makes the translation the document ACC staff actually read to match your courses with theirs. Course titles, hours or credits and grades need to be rendered completely and exactly as issued; we never convert grades, and the original grading scale stays on the page.

Originals in person, for F-1 students and residents alike

F-1 applicants upload clear PDF scans into their application profile, including unofficial college transcripts. Upon acceptance, the original transcripts or mark sheets and the diploma go to the International Student Office with certified translations (source). Applicants with a pending green card application follow the same transcript instructions.

Residents and other students seeking credit bring the original documents and the certified translation to any campus Admissions & Enrollment office; staff copy them and hand the originals back, and photocopies or photos are not accepted (source). The catalog asks for the original transcript in the native language together with the original translation.

Where ACC's pages differ

The transcripts and translation page lists online or e-issued transcripts among the documents ACC does not accept, while the same page, the submitting transcripts page and the evaluation FAQ say ACC accepts digital transcripts issued through Parchment Digitary Services or My eQuals. The translation is also described in different words: a certified translation from a certified translator, a professional translation, a certified translation, or, in the catalog, the original translation. We have not resolved these differences; a certified translation from a professional service fits each wording, and the admissions office can confirm whether your school's digital transcript qualifies.

What an eVerbary translation includes

Uploading the translation to ACC

F-1 applicants upload the translation with the original, scanned together as one PDF per category, into the application profile; the original documents and certified translations go to the International Student Office upon acceptance (source).

For transfer credit, bring the original transcript and the certified translation to any ACC campus Admissions & Enrollment office (source).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For ACC that means we translate your transcripts, diplomas and financial documents; the original documents with the school's seal, or certified copies, have to come from the school or the authorities named by ACC.

Frequently asked questions

Who can translate my documents for Austin Community College?

A certified translator. ACC does not translate documents, suggests the AATIA and ATA directories, and also accepts a certified English translator in your home country (source). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.

Do I need WES or another evaluation agency for ACC?

No. ACC evaluates international transcripts itself when the institution is accredited by the Ministry of Education (source).

I already have a degree from another country. Is my transcript evaluated automatically?

No. Submit a Transfer Credit Evaluation Request in MyACC (source).

Can I submit a scan of my transcript?

For the F-1 application, yes: you upload PDF scans. As official documents, scans and uncertified photocopies are not accepted; bring the originals, which staff copy and return (source, FAQ).

How long does ACC take to evaluate an international transcript?

Four to six weeks, depending on volume (source).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
