How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

Hennepin Technical College has new F-1 applicants send their secondary records to ECE and their college transcripts to WES for evaluation before submitting them, and publishes no translation rule of its own for those records.

Hennepin Tech's evaluation agencies, ECE and WES, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

You order the translation first and send it to the agency with your records; the agency then writes the evaluation, which we do not provide.

Hennepin Tech requirements in detail

Translation

No rule for academic records: official records from secondary school and every college must be evaluated by an approved service before submission (New F-1 international student application materials). The translation is what the agency needs to evaluate a document not in English.

Who may translate

Set by the agency: WES wants a professional translator; ECE accepts any complete, word-for-word translation.

Evaluation

High school diploma or transcript to Educational Credential Evaluators (a general diploma or transcript); college transcripts to World Education Services; evaluations can take up to a month (New F-1 international student application materials).

Bank statement

Notarized, current and original, in English, certified by a bank official, no more than two months old, at least $31,270 (New F-1 international student application materials).

Deadlines (fall 2027)

Application by February 1, supporting documents and placement testing by March 1, visa interview appointment by April 1; all documents together (New F-1 international student application materials).

Transfer credit

A course-by-course evaluation from any active NACES member, plus course syllabi or outlines translated to English (Transfer center).

Eligible programs

New F-1 students only for listed programs, such as Dental Assistant, Welding, CNC Machining, Culinary Arts or Automotive Technology (New F-1 admissions inquiry).

What each evaluation agency asks for the translation

Hennepin Tech names one agency for each kind of record (application materials).

For the high school diploma or transcript it is ECE, and ECE asks for a complete, word-for-word translation in the same format as the original, which you may prepare yourself; for $85 it sells a Translation Waiver, under which ECE translates for the report and no translation is delivered to you.

For college transcripts it is WES, and WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, does not accept translations by applicants, and does not translate documents itself.

If you have both kinds of records, you need two evaluations and two sets of translations, each sent to its agency. Translate the secondary diploma or transcript for ECE and the college transcripts for WES, with every page, stamp and grade.

Timing, and whether Hennepin Tech is admitting F-1 students

The International Student page says the college is not currently accepting new or transfer F-1 students (international student), while the inquiry page opens a Fall 2027 inquiry period for new F-1 students from November 1, 2026 to February 1, 2027, for listed programs only (inquiry).

Write to International@Hennepintech.edu before paying for evaluations.

For Fall 2027 the application is due February 1 and supporting documents by March 1, and evaluations can take up to a month (New F-1 international student application materials), so have the translations ready before you open the ECE or WES file.

For transfer credit after admission, Hennepin Tech also asks for course syllabi or outlines translated to English and will not consider a course without them (transfer center).

Need a certified translation for Hennepin Tech?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Secondary school diploma or transcript, for the ECE evaluation
  • College or university transcripts, for the WES evaluation
  • Course syllabi or outlines, for transfer credit
  • Bank statement, which must be in English

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Hennepin Tech

  • For academic records, the translation is not sent to Hennepin Tech: it goes to ECE or WES with your documents, because the records must be evaluated before you submit your application documents, which go in all at the same time (New F-1 international student application materials).

  • Translated syllabi for transfer credit go to the transfer specialists (Transfer center).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Hennepin Tech that means we translate your records and syllabi; the ECE and WES evaluations are ordered by you after the translation.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Hennepin Tech require a certified translation of my diploma?

It publishes no translation rule for records; it requires an ECE evaluation of the diploma or transcript (New F-1 international student application materials), and ECE needs an English translation unless you buy its waiver (ECE).

Which agency evaluates my college transcripts for Hennepin Tech?

World Education Services (New F-1 international student application materials), which requires a professional translator (WES).

Is Hennepin Tech accepting F-1 students?

Its pages differ: one says not currently; the inquiry page opens a Fall 2027 window from November 1, 2026 to February 1, 2027 (New F-1 admissions inquiry).

Do I need to translate syllabi for transfer credit?

Yes. Syllabi or outlines translated to English are required, or the course is not considered (Transfer center).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
