How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Germanna asks F-1 applicants for a document showing completion of the equivalent of a US high school diploma and, if that document is not in English, an official English translation together with an equivalency review and a course-by-course evaluation; it does not say who must translate.
Germanna Community College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. The equivalency review and course-by-course evaluation come from an evaluation agency, which we are not.
Germanna at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Germanna's international admission requirements ask for an official English translation of a high school completion document not in English and do not restrict who makes it (international students); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Germanna requirements in detail
Translation
For a high school completion document not in English, an official English translation (English learners and international students).
Who may translate
Not stated (English learners and international students).
Evaluation
An equivalency review and course-by-course evaluation of the same document; no agency is named (English learners and international students).
Other F-1 documents
Germanna application, I-20 application, sponsor's Affidavit of Support, qualifying exam score and passport page (English learners and international students).
F-1 transfers and change of status
Current I-20, F-1 visa and latest I-94, I-539 approval if applicable, and transcripts from your current school (English learners and international students).
Application windows
February 1 to June 1 for fall, August 1 to October 1 for spring; F-1 transfers email International Student Services for dates (English learners and international students).
A translation and an evaluation of the same diploma
Germanna's checklist asks for one academic document: proof that you completed the equivalent of an American high school diploma.
If it is not in English, Germanna wants an official English translation and, in the same line, an equivalency review and course-by-course evaluation (international students).
Order the translation first: most evaluation agencies need an English translation before they can review a diploma, and Germanna gets the same translation with your application. See high school diploma translation.
Germanna does not name an evaluation agency. Each agency sets its own translation rule, so check it before ordering; see translation for credential evaluation.
Start with an international advisor
Germanna lists a meeting with an international advisor (internationaladmissions@germanna.edu) for initial counseling among the application steps, alongside the I-20 application and the sponsor's Affidavit of Support (English learners and international students).
Applications open in windows, February 1 to June 1 for fall and August 1 to October 1 for spring, so the translation and the evaluation should be done before the window closes.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Germanna
Send the original document, the official English translation and the evaluation with your application to International Student Services (internationaladmissions@germanna.edu) (English learners and international students).
We can email the translation directly to the admissions office on request.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Germanna that means we translate your diploma and transcripts; the equivalency review and course-by-course evaluation come from an evaluation agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
What translation does Germanna ask for?
An official English translation of a high school completion document not in English (English learners and international students). Germanna does not say who must make it.
Do I also need an evaluation?
Yes, if the document is not in English: an equivalency review and course-by-course evaluation (English learners and international students).
When can F-1 students apply?
February 1 to June 1 for fall and August 1 to October 1 for spring (English learners and international students).
I am transferring from another US school on an F-1. What extra documents do I need?
Your current I-20, F-1 visa, latest I-94, any I-539 approval and transcripts from your current school (English learners and international students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
