Georgia Institute of Technology: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language
Georgia Tech asks international first-year applicants for transcripts of every year of secondary school with an English translation where needed, and Graduate Education requires admitted students whose university does not issue records in English to submit the native-language originals with a word-for-word certified English translation; neither rule says who must translate. Georgia Institute of Technology accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. International transfer applicants also need a course-by-course foreign credit evaluation from a NACES member, which we do not provide.
By curriculum
French bulletins de notes must be translated; other systems if needed.
NACES for transfers
Course-by-course evaluation with GPA, for any study abroad.
Translation after the admit
Grad: word-for-word certified, required once you are admitted.
Georgia Tech requirements at a glance
| What Georgia Tech asks for | |
|---|---|
| Translation (first-year) | Transcripts for each year of secondary school, with an English translation if necessary; for French-patterned curricula the translation of the bulletins de notes is listed as required (source). |
| Translation (graduate) | If your institution does not issue official records in English, the admitted student submits the native-language originals with a word-for-word certified English translation; records issued in English need neither (catalog, glossary). |
| Who may translate | Not stated in the undergraduate or graduate rules (first-year, catalog). |
| Evaluation (undergraduate) | First-year: none; applications are read in the context of your school system. Transfer: a course-by-course foreign credit evaluation with GPA from a NACES member, required for any study outside the US (source). |
| Evaluation (graduate) | Not required, but strongly recommended at application from ECE, Educational Perspectives, IEE, WES or TEC to shorten the Office of Graduate Education (OGE) review; documents those providers send count as official (source). |
| Where to upload | First-year: your student admission portal, or your school through Parchment, SCOIR, Slate, Naviance, Maia Learning or GA Futures (source). Graduate: copies with the application; official documents after admission by three routes only (source). |
| Graduate official documents | Secure electronic services such as Parchment, TrueCopy, CSSD or CDGDC to transcripts@grad.gatech.edu, email from your institution, or the institution's sealed envelope; photocopies are not acceptable (source). |
| Does it accept eVerbary? | Yes. Georgia Tech's undergraduate pages ask for an English translation without restricting who makes it (international first-year), and its graduate catalog asks admitted students for a word-for-word certified English translation, translator not specified (graduate catalog); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. First-year: what Georgia Tech asks for depends on your curriculum
Georgia Tech's international first-year page lists records by type of curriculum. French-patterned schools send the bulletins de notes for each year, with an English translation listed as required, and the Baccalauréat to enroll. Indian national curriculum students send Class X board results and Class XI internal marks, with predicted Class XII results strongly recommended. British-patterned students send IGCSE or O-Level and AS results with predicted A-Levels, and IB students their transcripts with predicted scores. Every other curriculum sends transcripts for each year completed, with an English translation if necessary.
If your secondary curriculum is shorter than four years you must add a fourth year of transcripts before enrolling; Georgia Tech's example is China, where students also send grade 9 records. Nigerian applicants are told that competitive candidates usually add AS and A-Levels after WAEC. You can upload transcripts to your admission portal yourself after applying, or your school can send them through Parchment, SCOIR, Slate, Naviance, Maia Learning or GA Futures (document submission).
Transfer: an evaluation is required, and credit is decided after admission
International transfer applicants send official transcripts from every institution, sent by the institution, and a foreign credit evaluation with a comprehensive course-by-course assessment and GPA, from a NACES member; Georgia Tech recommends having the evaluator send the official transcript and the evaluation together electronically (international transfer). Syllabi, course outlines and textbook information may be requested.
Credit itself is set later: the Registrar offers an official transfer credit evaluation to admitted students before FASET Orientation, and syllabi must include a description, weekly schedule, topics and textbooks to be reviewed (transfer credit). Evaluation agencies set their own translation rules; see translation for credential evaluation.
Graduate: two decisions, and where Georgia Tech's pages differ
Graduate admission happens twice: the program decides, then OGE verifies your credentials against Institute-level requirements, including a degree equal to 16 years of education (evaluation page, glossary). The word-for-word certified translation is required of admitted students; at application, copies of official documents are acceptable. OGE does not say how a translation you order separately should reach it, given that it accepts official documents only electronically from secure services or institutions, or in the institution's sealed envelope (submission FAQ); ask OGE before you send one.
The pages also differ on what you may upload at application. The graduate catalog says unofficial documents such as advisor transcripts, web or SIS transcripts and degree audits are accepted for program review, while OGE's glossary of application terms says it does not accept a degree audit, web transcript, advisor transcript or student information system transcript at any point in the process. We have not resolved that difference; ask your program which applies.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts for each year, including bulletins de notes
- Baccalauréat, Class XII board results or other leaving exam certificates
- University transcripts and degree certificates, for graduate verification
- Course syllabi and descriptions, for transfer credit review
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Georgia Tech
First-year applicants upload transcripts, with translations, to the student admission portal after applying, or have the school send them electronically; schools without electronic delivery can upload through Slate.org, email appdocs@admission.gatech.edu from an official address, or mail sealed documents (source).
Graduate applicants upload copies of their records with the application; after the admit, official documents and the word-for-word certified translation go to OGE, and OGE will not process an admitted student until they arrive (source).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. At Georgia Tech that means we translate your records; the NACES course-by-course evaluation transfer applicants need, and the optional graduate evaluation from ECE, Educational Perspectives, IEE, WES or TEC, come from those agencies.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to translate my bulletins de notes for Georgia Tech?
Yes. For French-patterned curricula Georgia Tech lists an English translation of the bulletins de notes as required (source).
Who can translate my documents for Georgia Tech?
Georgia Tech does not say. Undergraduate admission asks for an English translation and Graduate Education for a word-for-word certified translation (source); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets both.
Do international transfer applicants need WES?
They need a course-by-course evaluation with GPA from a NACES member, and WES is one of them (source).
Is a credential evaluation required for Georgia Tech graduate admission?
No, but OGE strongly recommends one from ECE, Educational Perspectives, IEE, WES or TEC to speed its review (source).
When do graduate applicants need the certified translation?
Once admitted. Copies are acceptable for program review; admitted students submit originals with a word-for-word certified English translation (source).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
