How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Florida SouthWestern State College asks F-1 applicants for evaluated transcripts from a NACES or AICE agency: a document-by-document evaluation as proof of high school graduation, and course-by-course evaluations from every college or university attended abroad.
FSW's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and IEE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; The Evaluation Company, which gives an FSW discount, asks for a translator certified by ATA, which eVerbary can assign on request.
You order the translation first, then the evaluation, which we do not provide.

Worth knowing about FSW
Five agency portals
TEC (discount), ECE, IEE, InCred and WES.

F-1 applicants need all of them evaluated.
Notarized finances
The financial statement must be notarized.
FSW requirements in detail
Translation
FSW states no translation rule; foreign transcripts reach it through a NACES or AICE evaluation (International student admissions). The agency sets the translation rule.
Who may translate
Set by the agency: WES, ECE and IEE accept a professional service; TEC asks for an ATA-certified translator.
High school
Document-by-document evaluation as proof of graduation, sent by the agency to the Office of Admissions-International (International student admissions).
College or university
Course-by-course evaluations from all institutions attended, sent by the agency to the Office of the Registrar (International student admissions).
Agencies with portals
The Evaluation Company (FSW discount), ECE, IEE, InCred and WES; FSW staff retrieve reports faster through them (International student admissions).
Financial statement
Notarized, showing funds in US dollars (International student admissions).
Deadlines
Published annually in the academic calendar; apply as early as possible (International student admissions).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency, and rejects translations by applicants.
ECE accepts complete, word-for-word translations in the original format, including your own, or translates for its report only under an $85 waiver.
IEE wants a certified translator and rejects translations by the applicant or a notary public.
The Evaluation Company, which offers FSW applicants a discount, says an outside translator must be certified by the American Translators Association. If you use TEC, eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator on request (see below).
Two reports, two offices
FSW splits the reports. The high school evaluation, document by document, proves graduation and goes from the agency to the Office of Admissions-International.
College reports are course by course, one for every college or university you attended abroad, and go from the agency to the Office of the Registrar (International student admissions). For F-1 applicants the college evaluations are not optional.
Through the five portals FSW staff retrieve completed evaluations themselves, which is faster; for the discount, start your TEC application through FSW's link (International student admissions).
Translate the high school diploma, transcripts and every college record before you open the agency file, so both reports start together.
Need a certified translation for FSW?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- High school diploma and transcripts, for the document-by-document evaluation
- Transcripts from every college or university attended abroad
- Degree certificates
- Bank documents behind the financial statement, if not in English
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to FSW
The translations go to the NACES or AICE agency with your records; the agency sends the reports to FSW, or FSW retrieves them through its portal (International student admissions).
The admission application, notarized financial statement and proof of English proficiency go to the Office of Admissions-International by the published deadline (International student admissions). On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for FSW, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For FSW that means we translate your records; the NACES or AICE evaluations are ordered by you from the agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Which evaluation does FSW want for my high school diploma?
A document-by-document evaluation from a NACES or AICE agency (International student admissions).
Do I need to evaluate my foreign university transcripts too?
Yes, as an F-1 applicant: course-by-course evaluations from all colleges or universities attended (International student admissions).
Which agencies work best with FSW?
TEC (with a discount), ECE, IEE, InCred and WES have online portals with FSW (International student admissions).
Does the financial statement need a notary?
Yes. FSW asks for a notarized financial statement in US dollars (International student admissions).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for FSW?
Yes, on request, for example if you use The Evaluation Company. Ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for an evaluation for Florida SouthWestern State College and needs a translator individually certified by ATA. ATA certifies Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) and Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page) into English; no other languages.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
