How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Fairfield University asks international applicants to send both the original and a translated copy of any academic record not in English, and its catalog asks for records in English or with an official English translation; it does not say who must translate.
Fairfield University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Transfer applicants also need a WES course-by-course evaluation and graduate applicants a NACES course-by-course evaluation, which we do not provide.
Fairfield at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Fairfield's international requirements ask for "both original and translated copies" of documents not in English (international requirements), and the catalog for an official English translation (catalog), without restricting who translates; a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Fairfield requirements in detail
Translation
Original and translated copies of any record not in English (International student application requirements); records in English or with an official English translation (catalog).
Who may translate
Not stated.
How records arrive
Official secondary records in a sealed envelope or sent directly by the school, the national education ministry or a NACES-approved agency; electronic copies are not accepted (International student application requirements).
Evaluation (first-year)
Not required; many applicants use The Evaluation Company, which runs a Fairfield portal (International student application requirements).
Transfer
Documents translated if not in English and evaluated; a WES course-by-course evaluation for college credit from abroad, plus original and translated course descriptions (transfer, International student application requirements).
Graduate
Official course-by-course evaluation of all coursework outside the US from a NACES member, WES or ECE preferred, at least three months before the start date (graduate catalog).
Transfer deadlines
November 15 for spring, April 1 for fall (Transfer students).
Two copies, on paper
Fairfield lists what it reads from a secondary school abroad: transcripts, national examination results, graduation certificates and any document that certifies completion.
The official set has to arrive in a sealed envelope or come directly from the school or the national education ministry, and when a record is not in English Fairfield wants both the original and the translated copy; electronic copies are not accepted (international requirements).
The catalog adds that the listing of schools attended should show dates, grades and the title of each diploma, in English or with an official English translation (catalog).
The applicant's translation therefore travels alongside the official record rather than replacing it.
Fairfield points applicants to the WES required-documents pages to see what each country issues, and notes that many use The Evaluation Company's Fairfield portal to assemble the file, though an evaluation is not required for first-year admission (International student application requirements).
Transfer and graduate applicants need an evaluation too
International transfer students must have their documents translated if not in English and evaluated (transfer).
For college credit earned abroad Fairfield asks specifically for copies of the WES Course-by-Course Evaluation, and every transfer applicant compiles course descriptions; for courses taken where English is not the native language, both the original and a translated version are required, and syllabi speed up the review (International student application requirements).
WES accepts a certified translation from a professional service; see translation for WES.
Graduate applicants with a degree from abroad send an official course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member; WES and ECE are preferred, and the evaluation is mailed to the Office of Graduate Admission (International student application requirements).
The graduate catalog asks for every supporting credential at least three months before the intended start date (graduate catalog).

Uploading the translation to Fairfield
First-year and transfer applicants apply through the Common Application; the translated copies go to the Office of Undergraduate Admission with the official records, which must be mailed in a sealed envelope or sent by the issuer (International student application requirements).
Fairfield does not review an application until every document has arrived.
For the WES or graduate evaluation, the translation goes to the agency with your records, and the agency sends the evaluation to Fairfield (International student application requirements).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Fairfield that means we translate your records and course descriptions; the WES course-by-course evaluation for transfer credit, or the NACES evaluation for graduate admission, is ordered by you from the agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Fairfield accept a translation I order myself?
Its rule asks for original and translated copies and does not say who translates (International student application requirements); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Can I email or upload the translated records?
Fairfield says electronic copies are not accepted; official records arrive in a sealed envelope or directly from the issuer (International student application requirements).
Do I need a credential evaluation as a first-year applicant?
No, but records may also be sent by a NACES agency, and many applicants use The Evaluation Company's Fairfield portal (International student application requirements).
Which evaluation does Fairfield want for transfer credit?
A WES Course-by-Course Evaluation, plus course descriptions in the original and in translation (International student application requirements).
What do graduate applicants submit?
An official course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member, WES or ECE preferred, at least three months before the start date (Graduate catalog: admission (Arts and Sciences)).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
