How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College publishes no general translation rule: applicants who attended college outside the US submit an official course-by-course evaluation from World Education Services or another NACES member, and high school transcripts only need a graduation date that is readable as a number or translated into English.
ECTC's evaluation agencies, such as WES, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. You order the translation first and send it to the agency; the evaluation is something we do not provide.
ECTC at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
ECTC asks for a course-by-course evaluation from WES or a NACES member (F-1 admissions process), and WES accepts a certified translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules); ECE, another NACES member, accepts any complete, word-for-word translation. Worth knowing about ECTC
WES or NACES
Course by course, for college records.
Graduation date
Readable or translated on the high school record.
June 1
F-1 fall deadline; October 1 for spring.
ECTC requirements in detail
Translation
No general rule; the high school transcript's graduation date must be recognizable as a number or translated into English (International student services).
Who may translate
Not stated by ECTC; for college records the evaluation agency sets the rule (WES: a professional translator).
Evaluation (F-1)
An official course-by-course evaluation of any college outside the US, from WES or a service on the NACES list (F-1 admissions process).
Other international students
All post-secondary transcripts must be officially evaluated by a NACES member (International student services).
No credit wanted
If you choose not to transfer college credits, you sign a waiver in the Admissions Office (F-1 admissions process).
Bank statements
Financial Verification Form plus bank statements in English and US dollars (Costs and financial verification of F-1 students).
Deadlines (F-1)
Fall June 1, spring October 1; no summer start (Deadlines for F-1 students).
What WES and ECE ask for the translation
ECTC names World Education Services and accepts any service on the NACES list (F-1 admissions process).
WES asks for an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation service, and does not accept translations by applicants.
ECE, also a NACES member, accepts complete, word-for-word translations including your own, and sells an $85 translation waiver.
Send the agency the full transcript, the degree certificate and the grading scale with their translations.
High school records, bank statements and the credit waiver
For the high school transcript ECTC asks mainly for a graduation date: the F-1 page says the transcript or equivalent must include it, and the page for other international students says it must be recognizable as a number or translated into English (International student services).
If your high school diploma spells the date out in another language, a translation settles it.
Bank statements must be in English and in US dollars, so a statement in another language needs a translation, and the amounts may need a conversion your bank can provide (Costs and financial verification of F-1 students).
If you attended college abroad but do not want the credits counted, you can skip the evaluation by signing a waiver in the ECTC Admissions Office (F-1 admissions process).
Immigrants and other non-F-1 international students follow the same NACES rule for every post-secondary transcript (International student services).
Need a certified translation for ECTC?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- High school transcript or diploma showing the graduation date
- College or university transcripts and degree certificates, for the evaluation
- Bank statements and sponsor documents, if not in English
- Grading scale printed with the transcripts
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to ECTC
The translation of college records goes to WES or the NACES agency, which sends the official evaluation to ECTC. Other F-1 documents go by email to lswartz0003@kctcs.edu or by mail to the International Student Office, 600 College Street Road, Elizabethtown, KY 42701 (F-1 admissions process).
On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For ECTC that means we translate your records and bank statements; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from WES or another NACES member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does ECTC require a certified translation?
Not as a general rule. College records go through a WES or NACES evaluation (F-1 admissions process), and the agency asks for the translation; WES wants one from a professional translator (WES).
Does my high school transcript need a translation?
It must show a graduation date recognizable as a number or translated into English (International student services).
Can I skip the evaluation of my foreign college credits?
Yes, if you do not want them transferred: you sign a waiver in the ECTC Admissions Office (F-1 admissions process).
Do bank statements need to be in English?
Yes, in English and in US dollars (Costs and financial verification of F-1 students).
When are the F-1 deadlines?
June 1 for fall and October 1 for spring; summer is not available (Deadlines for F-1 students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
