How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Elizabeth City State University publishes no translation rule of its own: all international transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES-approved agency, course by course and with a GPA conversion, and the report must be sent directly to ECSU.
ECSU's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and IERF, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency with your records; the evaluation itself is something we do not provide.
ECSU at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
ECSU asks for an evaluation from a NACES-approved agency (international students), and WES accepts a certified translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules); ECE and IERF, also NACES members, accept one as well. Policy checked on October 27, 2026.

Worth knowing about ECSU
NACES, with GPA
Course-by-course, sent directly to ECSU.
Four steps
Application, evaluation, English, finances.
May 1
Fall deadline; October 1 for spring.
ECSU requirements in detail
Translation
ECSU states no translation rule; international transcripts reach it only through a NACES evaluation (International students).
Who may translate
Set by the agency: WES, ECE and IERF accept a translation from a professional service.
Evaluation
By a NACES-approved agency: course-by-course, with a GPA conversion, sent directly to ECSU (International students).
Deadlines
Fall May 1, spring October 1 (International students).
Financial
Financial Guarantee Form and bank statement; at least $28,126 (USD) (International students).
Graduate
Allow additional time for transcript evaluation and English proficiency documents; deadlines vary by program (graduate programs).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
ECSU lets you choose any NACES member, so the translation rule is the agency's. WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator or service and does not accept one made by the applicant.
ECE asks for complete, word-for-word translations, accepts your own, and sells an $85 translation waiver. IERF asks for typed, word-for-word translations and may require a professional one.
Whichever you pick, ask for a course-by-course report with a GPA, because ECSU lists both (International students).
The order of steps for ECSU
ECSU's process has four steps: apply online with the $30 fee and the International Student Data Form, have your transcripts evaluated, prove English proficiency, and document funds (international students).
The evaluation is the slowest step, so translate first, with every page, stamp and grade, then open the NACES file and ask for the report to go directly to ECSU before May 1 for fall or October 1 for spring.
Graduate applicants are told to allow extra time for the same evaluation (Graduate programs).

Documents applicants usually translate
- High school diploma and transcripts
- College or university transcripts and degree certificates
- Bank statement, if not in English
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to ECSU
The translation goes to the NACES agency with your records; the agency sends the course-by-course evaluation directly to ECSU (International students).
The application, data form, test scores and financial documents go to ECSU Admissions. On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For ECSU that means we translate your records; the NACES course-by-course evaluation with GPA is ordered by you from the agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does ECSU need a certified translation of my transcript?
ECSU itself asks for a NACES evaluation (International students); the agency asks for the translation, and WES, for example, wants one from a professional translator (WES).
What kind of evaluation does ECSU require?
Course-by-course, with a GPA conversion, from a NACES-approved agency, sent directly to ECSU (International students).
When are the deadlines?
May 1 for fall and October 1 for spring (International students).
How much money must I show?
At least $28,126 (USD), with the Financial Guarantee Form and a bank statement (International students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
