How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Eckerd College asks international first-year applicants for certified true copies of their secondary school records and national or provincial exam certificates and, if those records are not in English, a certified translation in English sent in addition to the official records; it does not say who must translate.
Eckerd College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
College transcripts from abroad are evaluated by SpanTran, through a custom Eckerd application, or another NACES member; that evaluation is something we do not provide.
Eckerd at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Eckerd's international application requirements ask for a certified translation in English of records not in English, without restricting who makes it (international requirements); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. English
TOEFL iBT 79 or IELTS 6.5, among other options (International application requirements and checklist).
The translation travels with the original
Eckerd does not replace your records with the translation: it asks for certified, true copies of the secondary school records and the national or provincial exam certificates, and for a certified English translation in addition to those official records (international requirements).
Translate the exam certificate as well as the transcript, since Eckerd lists both, and keep the translation's page order matched to the originals.
After admission, the I-20 needs a Statement of Financial Responsibility, a bank statement or bank letter and a passport copy, plus a $400 enrollment deposit.
Eckerd asks that a bank statement in another currency make the currency clear; a statement in another language can be translated with your records (International application requirements and checklist).
College transcripts: SpanTran or another NACES member
Transfer applicants send college transcripts that are evaluated by SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, through a custom Eckerd application at a discounted rate, or by another NACES member (International application requirements and checklist).
TEC accepts outside translations only from translators certified by the American Translators Association; eVerbary can assign one on request (see below).
Other NACES members such as WES accept a word-for-word translation from a professional service.
The Registrar reviews each file individually and may award credit once the evaluation service sends its official recommendation (Registrar).

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Eckerd
Send the certified translation with the certified copies of your records to the Office of Admission (admissions@eckerd.edu); you follow your application and decision in the Eckerd applicant portal (International application requirements and checklist).
eVerbary delivers a signed PDF; on request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Eckerd, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Eckerd that means we translate your secondary records, exam certificates and bank documents; the evaluation of college transcripts is ordered by you from SpanTran or another NACES member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Eckerd require a certified translation?
Yes. If official records are not in English, Eckerd asks for a certified translation in English in addition to the records (International application requirements and checklist).
Do I need a credential evaluation for my high school records?
Eckerd's checklist asks first-year applicants for certified copies and translations; the evaluation it names is for college transcripts (International application requirements and checklist).
Which evaluation service should transfer applicants use?
SpanTran, through Eckerd's custom application, or another NACES member (International application requirements and checklist).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for SpanTran?
Yes, on request. Ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for an Eckerd evaluation and needs a translator individually certified by ATA. ATA certifies Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) and Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page) into English; no other languages.
Can I start in January?
Yes, in Winter Term; applications and supporting materials are due by December 1 (International application requirements and checklist).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
