Drexel University: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language

Drexel University publishes a country-by-country list of the transcripts and leaving certificates international applicants must send, each with an English translation, and its catch-all rule and transfer instructions ask for a notarized English translation; no page says who must translate. Drexel University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. eVerbary can add the notarization at checkout ($34.90 per order); the NACES course-by-course evaluation Drexel recommends for transfer credit, and requires for nursing, is not something we provide.

Who may translateNot named on the undergraduate pages (source, transfer).
What counts as officialA transcript sent directly from your school to Admissions, or one officially signed, stamped in color and sealed (source).
Transfer creditNotarized translation of every postsecondary record, plus syllabi or course descriptions; an academic advisor evaluates credit within two to three weeks of admission (source, FAQ).
EvaluationNot required for most applicants; a NACES course-by-course evaluation is recommended to speed up transfer review and required for nursing BSN applicants with coursework abroad (FAQ, source).
GraduateRequirements are set by each program; check your program's page (source).
Does it accept eVerbary?Yes. Drexel's transcript requirements ask for an English translation, notarized for countries not on the list and for transfer applicants (transfer instructions), without saying who must make it; a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary, notarized at checkout ($34.90 per order), meets that rule. A country-by-country list, with a notarized catch-all

Drexel's transcript requirements page tells first-year applicants what to send from each country, for current students and for graduates. For Argentina it is the final transcript for years 9 to 12 and the Bachiller in the original language and in English; for Brazil, the Certificado de Ensino Médio and its translation, plus the last year of middle school if your high school lasts three years; for China, a certified English translation of the transcript and of the graduation certificate.

If your country is not on the list, the rule is broader: an official academic record "with notarized English translation" from every secondary or postsecondary school you attended. The transfer instructions use the same notarized wording for every postsecondary record (source). eVerbary adds the notary's certificate to the certified translation when you choose notarization at checkout.

Transfer credit: syllabi, advisors and NACES

Drexel's transfer credit is decided by an academic advisor in the department that admits you, usually within two to three weeks of admission (FAQ, credit evaluations). For schools abroad, Drexel first checks whether the institution's accreditation is equivalent to US regional accreditation, and recommends a NACES course-by-course evaluation to speed that up. Syllabi or course descriptions must accompany the transcript (source); if they are not in English, translate them too so the advisor can match courses.

Drexel Online's undergraduate programs follow a different rule: if your institution cannot send an English translation, the online program asks for one from WES or another approved agency (Drexel Online). That rule belongs to the online programs; the on-campus pages above do not contain it.

Where Drexel's pages differ

Most entries on the country list ask only for an "English translation"; the China entry asks for a certified one, the India Class 12 entry for an official one, and the catch-all entry and the transfer instructions for a notarized one. We have not resolved which wording Drexel applies to your file. A certified translation with notarization satisfies all four; enroll@drexel.edu can confirm what your country needs.

What an eVerbary translation includes

Uploading the translation to Drexel

Send your records and translations to Drexel Admissions as the country list and instructions describe; questions about which documents your country needs go to enroll@drexel.edu (source, international instructions). Records your school sends directly, or signed, stamped in color and sealed, count as official.

Transfer applicants also send syllabi or course descriptions, and art and design applicants upload them through the Discover Drexel portal with their portfolio work (source).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For Drexel that means we translate and, if you choose it, notarize your records; the NACES course-by-course evaluation recommended for transfer credit comes from an evaluation agency.

Frequently asked questions

Does my translation have to be notarized for Drexel?

If your country is not on Drexel's list, or you are a transfer applicant, yes: the rule asks for a notarized English translation (source, transfer). eVerbary adds notarization at checkout for $34.90 per order.

What does Drexel need from Argentina or Brazil?

The final high school transcript and the leaving certificate (Bachiller, or Certificado de Ensino Médio), each in the original language and in English (source).

Do I need a WES or ECE evaluation to transfer to Drexel?

It is recommended to speed up the review of foreign transcripts and required for nursing BSN applicants (FAQ, source).

What makes a transcript official at Drexel?

It is sent directly from your school to Admissions, or it is officially signed, stamped in color and sealed (source).

Who decides my transfer credit?

An academic advisor in your program, usually within two to three weeks of admission, based on your transcript and syllabi (source).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
