How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

The College of Southern Nevada publishes no translation rule of its own: to transfer foreign college credits, you send your transcripts to a NACES member for a course-by-course evaluation, then hand the sealed report to CSN's International Center, which passes it to the Registrar.

CSN's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and IERF, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

You order the translation first and send it to the agency; the agency writes the report, which we do not provide.

Two steps

NACES report first, then CSN's own Registrar review.

Sealed, unopened

You deliver the agency envelope without opening it.

3 to 8 weeks

For CSN's internal evaluation.

CSN requirements in detail

Translation

CSN states no translation rule; foreign credits reach it through a NACES report. The translation is what the agency needs before it can evaluate a document not in English.

Who may translate

Set by the evaluation agency (see below).

Evaluation

Course-by-course, from any current NACES member, converting coursework into US grades and credits (CSN International Center: admissions and enrollment).

Delivery

The agency sends you the report in a sealed envelope; you submit it unopened to the International Center (CSN International Center: admissions and enrollment).

Then

The International Center copies the documents and forwards them to the Registrar, which decides which courses apply to your major; 3 to 8 weeks (CSN International Center: admissions and enrollment).

Admission documents

High school diploma or transcripts, uploaded in the International Student Application; $25 fee from abroad (CSN International Center: admissions and enrollment).

From the NACES report to CSN credit

CSN describes foreign credit as a two-step process (International Center admissions).

First, a NACES member evaluates your transcripts course by course and mails you the official report in a sealed envelope, which you must not open.

Second, you submit that envelope to CSN's International Center, which keeps a copy and sends the documents to the Registrar's Office for an internal review of which courses count toward your major at CSN.

Evaluations take 3 to 8 weeks depending on volume, so CSN recommends starting early.

The application itself asks for your high school diploma or transcripts, uploaded in the International Student Application. CSN's page sets no translation rule for them.

CSN offers Degree, Pathway and ESL programs; the Degree and Pathway programs need proof of English proficiency, the ESL program does not.

What the agencies ask for the translation

Because CSN accepts any NACES member, the agency's own rule decides. WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator or service and does not accept the applicant's own.

ECE accepts complete, literal translations, including the applicant's own, or sells an $85 Translation Waiver. IERF asks for typed, line-by-line translations and may require a professional one.

Need a certified translation for CSN?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • University or college transcripts, for the NACES report
  • Degree certificates
  • High school diploma or transcripts, for the application

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to CSN

  • The translation goes to the NACES agency with your records; the agency mails the sealed report to you, and you deliver it unopened to CSN's International Center. Official transcripts can also be sent electronically to apply.ic@csn.edu or by mail (CSN International Center: admissions and enrollment).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

At CSN that means the course-by-course report comes from a NACES agency; we translate the transcripts you send to it.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does CSN require a certified translation of my foreign transcript?

CSN itself publishes no translation rule; it requires a NACES course-by-course evaluation for foreign credits (CSN International Center: admissions and enrollment), and the agency sets the translation rule.

Which agency should I use for CSN?

Any current NACES member (CSN International Center: admissions and enrollment). Compare their translation rules before ordering.

Can I open the evaluation envelope?

No. CSN says to submit the sealed envelope without opening it (CSN International Center: admissions and enrollment).

How long does CSN take to award credit?

3 to 8 weeks for the Registrar's internal evaluation, depending on volume (CSN International Center: admissions and enrollment).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
