How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Claremont McKenna College's international transfer instructions say that high school transcripts, score reports, letters of recommendation or any other required application material written in another language must come with an official English translation; CMC does not say who must translate.
Claremont McKenna College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. CMC asks for no credential evaluation, and we do not provide one.
CMC at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
CMC's instructions say materials in another language need "an official English translation" and name no translator (international transfer instructions); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 27, 2026.

CMC requirements in detail
Translation
An official English translation of any required material in another language: high school transcripts, score reports, recommendation letters (International transfer application instructions).
Who may translate
Not stated.
Secondary records
Official high school transcripts plus national exam results such as GCSE O and A levels, IB or Abitur, sent on the transcript, by the testing agency or by a school official (International transfer application instructions).
Evaluation
Not required.
English
TOEFL iBT 100 (5.5 on the new scale), IELTS 7.5, Cambridge 190 or Duolingo 130 recommended (International transfer application instructions).
Financial aid
Need-aware for international students; apply at admission with the CMC Financial Aid Form, not the CSS Profile; no aid later (International students: admission and aid).
What CMC means by required materials
CMC's international transfer instructions give translation its own heading, and the rule is broad: if your high school transcripts, score reports, letters of recommendation or other required application materials are written in a language other than English, you must provide an official English translation.
That includes the secondary school record CMC asks every transfer applicant to send, with national exam results such as GCSE O and A levels, the International Baccalaureate or the Abitur, and a teacher's or professor's letter written in your language. For the school record, see high school diploma translation.
Official exam results must arrive on an official high school transcript, through the testing agency or from a high school official (International transfer application instructions). The translation is your document; upload it with your application materials so the readers have both versions.
Aid decided once, at admission
CMC is need-aware for international applicants and meets demonstrated need as determined at admission, with a family contribution fixed for four years.
International students must apply for aid with the application, through the CMC Financial Aid Application for International Students; CMC does not accept the IFSAA or CSS Profile from them, does not review an application without the form, and does not award need-based aid to students who did not apply at admission (International students: admission and aid). Merit scholarships have a December 1 priority deadline.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to CMC
Submit the certified translations with your application materials through the Common Application or your CMC applicant portal; official transcripts and exam results come from the school or the testing agency (International transfer application instructions).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does CMC require certified translations?
CMC asks for an official English translation of required materials not in English (International transfer application instructions). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets that rule.
Do recommendation letters need translating?
Yes, if they are written in another language (International transfer application instructions).
Which exam results must I send?
National exam results such as GCSE, A-levels, IB or Abitur, with your high school transcript (International transfer application instructions).
Can I apply for aid after I am admitted?
No. International students must apply for need-based aid at the time of admission (International students: admission and aid).
Does CMC accept the CSS Profile from international applicants?
No; it uses its own CMC Financial Aid Form (International students: admission and aid).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
