Sample translation: a Brazilian university transcript

This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with invented names, school and numbers. The original in Portuguese sits next to our English translation, and the PDF starts with the signed certification page. Bracketed text in the translation is a translator's note: each abbreviation is spelled out the first time it appears, and the layout follows the original line for line, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice

  • CPF, RG, MEC, D.O.U., CH, CR and ENADE are spelled out in brackets the first time they appear, and only then.
  • Status codes (AP, RM, RF, AE) are explained on first use, so a course failed and retaken the next term reads correctly.
  • Grades, decimal commas and dates stay exactly as printed; the date format is noted once. Converting grades is the evaluator's job.
  • Terms, rows and columns follow the original line for line, so each course can be matched at a glance.

CCSF requirements in detail

Translation

Transcript in English or officially translated into English by a certified translation company with a legal interpreter's stamp (Admissions for international students).

Who may translate

A certified translation company (Admissions for international students).

What you submit

A copy of the transcript in the original language and a copy of the English translation (Admissions for international students).

Which transcript

Official high school or college/university transcript, for the Credit Program and the Conditional Admission Program (Admissions for international students).

Under 18

A copy of the high school diploma and a Legal Guardian Consent Form; the guardian must be 21 or older, live in the Bay Area and be a US citizen or green card holder (Admissions for international students).

English

TOEFL iBT 56, ITP 483, IELTS 5.5 or Duolingo 85 for the Credit Program; language school certificates are not accepted instead (Admissions for international students).

Review time

About 3-4 business weeks; 5 business days for Concurrent Enrollment (Admissions for international students).

A translation company, a stamp and two copies

CCSF is specific about who translates: the transcript must be in English or officially translated into English by a certified translation company with a legal interpreter's stamp.

You then submit a copy of both the original-language transcript and its English translation (admissions for international students). The same wording appears for the Credit Program and the Conditional Admission Program.

eVerbary is a certified translation company; every translation includes its certification, and if you want an additional notary seal on it, notarization can be added at checkout for $34.90 per order. Upload or send the translation together with the copy of the original, as CCSF asks.

Which programs ask for which documents

Applicants to the Credit (Academic) Program send the transcript and proof of English (TOEFL iBT 56, ITP 483, IELTS 5.5 or Duolingo 85).

The Conditional Admission Program also asks for the official transcript; the Intensive English Program is a separate path.

Applicants under 18 add a copy of the high school diploma and a Legal Guardian Consent Form, and transfer-in students add their F-1 visa, I-94 and prior documents (Admissions for international students).

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to CCSF

  • Apply through the online international application and attach copies of the original transcript and the English translation; the Office of International Programs reviews and emails you within about 3-4 business weeks (Admissions for international students).

  • On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For CCSF that means we translate your transcripts and diplomas; the original transcript itself still comes from your school.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
