How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Chapman University asks undergraduate international applicants to have transcripts in another language translated word for word by a certified English translator, and graduate applicants to submit each transcript in the original language with a word-for-word English translation, professionally translated line for line.
Chapman University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Chapman calculates foreign GPAs in-house and does not accept outside GPA evaluations, so no evaluation agency is involved.

Evaluation
In-house: Chapman sets your US GPA, checks accreditation and degree equivalency, and does not accept outside GPA evaluations (Graduate international: how to apply).
Official documents
Undergraduate: directly from a school counselor or official, by email or sealed envelope (International first-year application steps). Graduate: directly from the school after admission (Graduate international: how to apply).
Graduate uploads
Unofficial copies and translations go in the "International Academic Documents" section of the General Application and cannot be added after submission (Graduate international: how to apply).
Country rules
Graduate: China through CSSD, the UK through HEAR, India through True Copy (Graduate international: how to apply).
Undergraduate: Common App plus school documents
Chapman's international first-year applicants apply through the same process as domestic students and then add English scores and, where they apply, external exam results such as predicted IB scores, Indian board results, GCSE or IGCSE, predicted A-levels or the Australian ATAR, plus graduation certificates (first-year steps).
Official documents must come directly from a high school counselor or school official, by email from an official school address or in a sealed envelope to the Office of Admission in Orange.
For records in another language the international FAQ is direct: have them translated by a certified English translator, word for word.
A certified translation from eVerbary carries the translator's signed statement of accuracy and keeps every grade as written. For the school record, see high school diploma translation.
Graduate: original language, English, and an in-house GPA
For every bachelor's, master's or doctoral institution you attended, the Office of Graduate Admission wants the transcript in the original language and a word-for-word English translation, and after admission also an official diploma or degree certificate in the original and in English.
For review it accepts PDF scans in the "International Academic Documents" section of the General Application, which you cannot add to after you submit; later documents go by email to the graduate admission office.
Programs on PharmCAS, PTCAS and CSDCAS take only official transcripts through the CAS platform, while PharmGrad takes unofficial copies for review.
Chapman then evaluates your record itself: it determines your US GPA, verifies accreditation and confirms degree equivalency, and states that it does not accept outside GPA evaluations from third-party services.
Allow at least two extra weeks for your transcripts to show as received (Graduate international: how to apply). That means you need the translation, not a WES or ECE report.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Chapman
Undergraduate: upload the translation with your application documents; official records come from your school counselor by email to the admission office or by sealed mail (International first-year application steps).
Graduate: upload the original-language transcript and its translation in the International Academic Documents section before you submit; after admission, your school sends the official documents directly, electronically or by post (Graduate international: how to apply).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Chapman accept a translation from a translation company?
Yes. Undergraduate admission asks for a certified English translator, graduate admission for a professional translation (undergraduate, graduate).
Do I need a WES evaluation for Chapman?
No. Chapman evaluates international transcripts in-house and does not accept outside GPA evaluations (Graduate international: how to apply).
Can I upload unofficial translations for graduate review?
Yes, in the International Academic Documents section of the General Application, before you submit (Graduate international: how to apply).
Does my diploma need translating too?
For graduate admission, yes: an official diploma or degree certificate in its original language and in English (Graduate international: how to apply).
How do Chinese or Indian degree holders send transcripts?
Through CSSD for China and True Copy for India, or from the school directly (Graduate international: how to apply).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
