Cal State Fullerton requirements in detail
Translation
A word-for-word certified English translation of every document not in English, with the original-language transcript (Office of Admissions: transcripts).
Who may translate
Professional translation services; third-party evaluations may also be used for translation purposes (Office of Admissions: transcripts).
Evaluation (undergraduate)
Not required. Official transcripts may be sent through IEE, WES or The Evaluation Company only (Office of Admissions: transcripts).
Evaluation (graduate)
Optional: a certified translation, or a full credential evaluation from IEE, WES or The Evaluation Company; evaluations from other sources must come with official transcripts (Office of Admissions: transcripts).
Official records
Delivered by the school directly to CSUF, electronically or in its sealed envelope; processing takes 7–10 business days electronic, 3–6 weeks by mail (Office of Admissions: transcripts).
Which schools
Undergraduates: each school listed on the application (high school grades 9–12); graduate: the university where the bachelor's degree was earned (Office of Admissions: transcripts).
Application
Cal State Apply and a $70 fee; decisions are not made with incomplete documents; no lower-division transfers (Office of Admissions: international student admission requirements).
A translation service, an evaluation, or both
Cal State Fullerton's transcripts page is unusually explicit.
Undergraduates must submit official original-language transcripts and, if they are not in English, a word-for-word certified English translation; the page then says applicants may submit certified translations from professional translation services.
Credential evaluations by third parties are not required for undergraduates, but they may be used for translation purposes, and if you send official transcripts through an agency it must be IEE, WES or The Evaluation Company; the page warns that evaluations and transcripts from any other third-party source will not be accepted as official.
Graduate applicants send official transcripts from the university where they earned the bachelor's degree, in the original language or as mark sheets, with a word-for-word certified English translation, or a full credential evaluation from one of the same three agencies.
Evaluations from other sources must be accompanied by official transcripts (Office of Admissions: transcripts). For most applicants the simplest path is the official records from the school plus a certified translation.
Official means sent by the school
CSUF defines official documents as those delivered securely from the school directly to CSUF, electronically or in the school's sealed envelope not opened by the student (Office of Admissions: transcripts).
The translation does not replace that: the school sends the records, and you provide the translation.
If you are in your final year of high school, CSUF asks for 7th-semester transcripts first and final transcripts after graduation.
Applications are filed on Cal State Apply, and CSUF does not decide on incomplete files (international admissions). For the systemwide rule, see Cal State translation requirements.

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.

Uploading the translation to Cal State Fullerton
CSUF asks you to submit transcripts after applying; send the certified translation with the original-language records as the Office of Admissions instructs (Office of Admissions: transcripts). We can send the translation directly to the admissions office by email on request.
If you use IEE, WES or The Evaluation Company, the translation goes to the agency with your records, and the agency sends its report to CSUF (Office of Admissions: transcripts).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Cal State Fullerton that means we translate your records word for word; official transcripts must come from your school, and an IEE, WES or TEC evaluation, if you choose one, comes from the agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Cal State Fullerton accept translations from a translation company?
Yes. Its transcripts page says applicants may submit certified translations from professional translation services (Office of Admissions: transcripts).
Do I need WES for Cal State Fullerton?
Not as an undergraduate: evaluations are not required. If you use an agency, CSUF accepts only IEE, WES or The Evaluation Company (Office of Admissions: transcripts).
Does the translation need to be word for word?
Yes. CSUF asks for a word-for-word certified English translation (Office of Admissions: transcripts).
As a graduate applicant, can I send an evaluation instead of a translation?
Yes: a full credential evaluation from IEE, WES or The Evaluation Company is an alternative to the certified translation (Office of Admissions: transcripts).
Can I transfer to CSUF with fewer than 60 units?
No. Cal State Fullerton does not accept lower-division transfers (Office of Admissions: international student admission requirements).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
