Requirements checked on October 27, 2026 from BJU's public pages (sources).
Bob Jones University asks applicants from schools without a US curriculum to have their grade 9-12 transcripts evaluated course by course, with GPA and credit conversion, by WES, The Evaluation Company or another NACES member; student athletes use InCred.
BJU's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; The Evaluation Company asks for a translator individually certified by ATA, which eVerbary provides on request. The evaluation comes from the agency, not from us.
BJU at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
BJU accepts evaluations from WES, The Evaluation Company or another NACES member (international admission process), and WES accepts a certified translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules); ECE does as well, while TEC asks for an ATA-certified translator. Sample translation: a Brazilian university transcript
This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with invented names, school and numbers. The original in Portuguese sits next to our English translation, and the PDF starts with the signed certification page. Bracketed text in the translation is a translator's note: each abbreviation is spelled out the first time it appears, and the layout follows the original line for line, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice
- CPF, RG, MEC, D.O.U., CH, CR and ENADE are spelled out in brackets the first time they appear, and only then.
- Status codes (AP, RM, RF, AE) are explained on first use, so a course failed and retaken the next term reads correctly.
- Grades, decimal commas and dates stay exactly as printed; the date format is noted once. Converting grades is the evaluator's job.
- Terms, rows and columns follow the original line for line, so each course can be matched at a glance.

BJU requirements in detail
Translation
BJU states no translation rule of its own; foreign transcripts reach it through the evaluation (International admission process). The agency needs the translation before evaluating a document not in English.
Who may translate
Set by the agency: WES wants a professional translator; ECE accepts a literal translation; TEC an ATA-certified one.
Evaluation
Schools without a US-based curriculum: course-by-course evaluation with GPA calculation and credit conversion (International admission process).
Agencies
World Education Services, The Evaluation Company (discount through BJU's portal), or another NACES member; student athletes use InCred (International admission process).
Timing
An evaluation covering at least three complete years can be submitted before you finish school; afterwards the school sends the final transcript to admission@bju.edu, with no second evaluation (International admission process).
Records
Transcripts for every year equivalent to US grades 9 through 12 (International admission process).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES asks for an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency, and does not accept translations by applicants. ECE, a NACES member, accepts complete, literal translations, including your own, or translates internally for an $85 waiver.
The Evaluation Company, which offers BJU applicants a discount through its custom portal, requires an outside translator certified by the American Translators Association, or translates in-house once your application is complete.
If you choose TEC, eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA for the languages ATA certifies: ask for a free quote and say it is for TEC and BJU.
One evaluation, started before graduation
BJU accepts an evaluation submitted before you finish your final year, as long as it covers at least three complete years; after graduation, your school sends the final official transcript directly to admissions, and you do not need a second evaluation (International admission process).
Translate grades 9 to 11 (or their equivalent) first for the evaluation, and the diploma when it is issued if BJU or the agency asks for it.
Need a certified translation for BJU?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary transcripts for the equivalent of grades 9 to 12
- Secondary diploma or leaving certificate
- National exam results
- College transcripts, for transfer applicants
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to BJU
The translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records; the course-by-course evaluation goes to BJU Admission, and the final transcript is sent by your school to admission@bju.edu (International admission process).
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for BJU, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For BJU that means we translate your records for the agency; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from WES, TEC or another NACES member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does BJU need an evaluation of my high school transcripts?
Yes, if your school does not use a US-based curriculum: course-by-course with GPA and credit conversion (International admission process).
Which agencies does BJU accept?
WES, The Evaluation Company or another NACES member; athletes use InCred (International admission process).
Can I submit the evaluation before I graduate?
Yes, if it covers at least three complete years; no second evaluation is needed (International admission process).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for The Evaluation Company?
Yes, on request through a free quote, for Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) or Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page). ATA certifies no other languages into English.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
