How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Blue Ridge Community College publishes no translation rule for academic records: F-1 applicants have an approved credentialing agency, a NACES member, send BRCC documentation that they completed the equivalent of a US high school diploma, and college credit from abroad needs a NACES course-by-course evaluation.
Blue Ridge CC's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and IERF, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency; the evaluation itself is something we do not provide.

Blue Ridge CC requirements in detail
Translation
Blue Ridge CC states no translation rule for academic records; foreign records reach it through a NACES evaluation (International students: F-1 visa process). The translation is what the agency needs before it can evaluate a document not in English.
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency (see below).
High school equivalency
Documentation of completing the equivalent of a US high school diploma, regardless of country, sent by an approved credentialing agency; course-by-course recommended, summary report accepted for general admission (International students: F-1 visa process).
College credit from abroad
A course-by-course evaluation from a NACES agency (International students: F-1 visa process).
English proficiency
Lower scores may be considered case by case with English/ESL faculty and your educational evaluation (International students: F-1 visa process).
Financial documents
Verification of support and funding forms, in English and US dollars; BRCC must receive the originals (International students: F-1 visa process).
What the evaluation agencies ask for the translation
Blue Ridge CC accepts any NACES member (F-1 visa process), so the agency you choose sets the translation rule. WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept applicants' own.
ECE accepts a complete, literal translation, including your own, and sells an $85 waiver under which it translates internally. IERF asks for typed, line-by-line translations and may require a professional one.
The Evaluation Company accepts outside translators only if certified by ATA; eVerbary can assign one on request through a free quote.
Whichever you choose, confirm that it issues the high school equivalency report Blue Ridge wants before you pay.
Summary or course by course
For the high school record, Blue Ridge recommends a detailed course-by-course evaluation but accepts a summary report for general admission (International students: F-1 visa process).
The evaluation also feeds other decisions: if your English test score is below the minimum, BRCC may consider it case by case with its English/ESL faculty and your educational evaluation.
For college coursework you want counted, only a course-by-course report works. See high school diploma translation.

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.

Uploading the translation to Blue Ridge CC
The translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records; the agency sends the evaluation directly to Blue Ridge CC (International students: F-1 visa process).
Financial forms go to BRCC International Admissions as originals, in English and US dollars (International students: F-1 visa process).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Blue Ridge CC that means we translate your records for the agency; the high school equivalency or course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from a NACES member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
