How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Biola University publishes no translation rule for its international applicants: transcripts are uploaded unofficially to apply and sent officially after admission, and transfer students who want credit for college courses taken outside the US must have them evaluated course by course by an independent US agency such as The Evaluation Company, IEE, WES or FIS.
Biola's evaluation agencies, such as WES and IEE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. You translate first and send the translation to the agency; the evaluation is something we do not provide.

Biola requirements in detail
Translation
No rule of its own; the translation is what the evaluation agency needs before it can evaluate a record not in English.
Who may translate
Set by the agency. WES and IEE accept professional or certified translators; TEC asks for an ATA-certified translator.
Evaluation
For transfer credit from outside the US: a Course by Course Report from an independent US agency such as The Evaluation Company, IEE, WES or FIS, sent directly to Biola (International students: applying to Biola).
Transcripts to apply
Unofficial copies uploaded in the "Supplemental Items & Documents" tab or emailed; official ones after admission, from the institution (International students: applying to Biola).
Freshman-transfer
Fewer than 15 semester credits after high school: apply as a freshman-transfer and send high school transcripts (International students: applying to Biola).
Deadlines (fall)
Early Action November 30 and January 15, regular March 1; spring November 15 (International students: applying to Biola).
Graduate
Each school sets its own requirements; contact the graduate international office (International students: applying to Biola).
Applying to Biola from abroad
For first-year and transfer applicants, Biola's international application page asks for a transcript from each high school or college attended, current to the time of application.
An unofficial copy is enough to apply, uploaded as a JPG, PNG or PDF or emailed to the transcripts office; once admitted, official transcripts must come from the institution through a service such as Parchment, by email from the school or in a sealed envelope, and the final one must show the graduation date.
Biola states no translation rule for these, but a certified translation next to each record lets the office read it. For the school record, see high school diploma translation.
The application also asks for three short faith essays, proof of English proficiency, bank statements and, if you are in the US, your I-94 (International students: applying to Biola).
Transfer credit and the agency's translation rules
Students who want transfer credit for college courses taken outside the US must have their transcripts evaluated by an independent agency located in the US, choose the "Course by Course Report", and have the agency send it directly to Biola through its portal or by post to La Mirada (International students: applying to Biola).
Biola names The Evaluation Company, IEE with a Biola discount, WES and FIS.
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept translations by applicants. IEE asks for a certified translator, not the applicant or a notary, and sells its own translations.
The Evaluation Company accepts outside translations only from translators certified by ATA, or translates in-house; eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator on request.
Need a certified translation for Biola?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- High school transcripts and diploma
- College or university transcripts, for the Course by Course Report
- Bank statements
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Biola
For the application, upload unofficial transcripts and their translations in the Supplemental Items & Documents tab or email them to Biola's transcripts office (International students: applying to Biola).
For credit, send the translation with your records to the agency; the agency sends the Course by Course Report to Biola directly (International students: applying to Biola).
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Biola, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Biola that means we translate your records for the agency; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Biola require translated transcripts?

Which agencies does Biola name?

Can I use an eVerbary translation for WES or IEE?
Yes. WES accepts translations from professional translators and IEE from certified translators (WES, IEE).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for TEC?
Yes, on request through a free quote, for Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) or Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page). ATA certifies no other languages into English (TEC rule).

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
