How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Big Bend Community College publishes no translation rule of its own: international applicants send a copy of their high school record, and credits from a non-US college must be evaluated course by course by a NACES-certified evaluation service.
Big Bend's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and IEE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency; the agency then writes the evaluation, which we do not provide.

Big Bend requirements in detail
Translation
Big Bend states no translation rule; credits from abroad reach it only through a NACES evaluation. The translation is what the agency needs before it can evaluate a document not in English.
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency (see below).
Admission
A copy of your high school transcript or other proof of completion; seniors may send current records (Big Bend: international general information).
Evaluation
Credits from non-US institutions: a course-by-course evaluation by a NACES-certified service (Big Bend: international credit evaluation providers (PDF)).
Agencies named
ACEI, ECE, FIS, International Consultants of Delaware, IEE, Josef Silny & Associates and WES, as a starting point; fees and times differ (Big Bend: international credit evaluation providers (PDF)).
Special programs
Aviation (Commercial Pilot) applicants begin December 1 one year before the start term, for example December 1, 2026 for fall 2027 (Big Bend: international students).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
Big Bend's list is a starting point, and each agency has its own rule. WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator or translation service and does not accept translations by applicants.
ECE wants complete, literal translations in the same format as the original and lets applicants translate themselves, or sells an $85 Translation Waiver.
IEE wants a certified translator, not the applicant or a notary, and sells its own translations.
Josef Silny & Associates accepts outside translations in the US only from translators certified by the American Translators Association, and ACEI has a similar rule; for those two, eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator through a free quote, for the languages ATA certifies.
Admission first, credit later
Big Bend admits international students who have completed the equivalent of a high school diploma before classes start; a copy of the transcript or other documentation is enough to apply, and the page does not ask for a translation at that stage (general information).
Students with college credits from abroad then need the professional evaluation, and Big Bend asks you to contact the international office for guidance before sending records (Big Bend: international general information).
Credits are reviewed course by course against your goals at Big Bend (Big Bend: international credit evaluation providers (PDF)).

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Big Bend
The translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records (WES, for example, takes it in your WES account); the agency sends its course-by-course report to Big Bend. Contact the international student coordinator about how to submit these records (Big Bend: international general information).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Big Bend that means we translate your records for the agency; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from a NACES-certified service.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Big Bend Community College require a certified translation?
Big Bend itself publishes no translation rule; it requires a NACES course-by-course evaluation for credits from abroad (Big Bend: international credit evaluation providers (PDF)), and the agency asks for the translation.
Which agency should I choose for Big Bend?
Any NACES-certified service; Big Bend names ACEI, ECE, FIS, ICD, IEE, Josef Silny and WES (Big Bend: international credit evaluation providers (PDF)).
Do I need to translate my high school transcript to apply?
Big Bend's international page asks for a copy of the high school transcript or proof of completion and does not mention a translation (Big Bend: international general information).
