How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Bethune-Cookman University requires international applicants to send their high school transcripts and national exam results, and any college records, to one of five evaluation agencies before applying; records sent to B-CU without an evaluation are returned.
B-CU's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; Josef Silny, The Evaluation Company and Global Credential Evaluators ask for an ATA-certified translator, which eVerbary can assign on request.
You order the translation first, then the evaluation, which we do not provide.

Worth knowing about B-CU
Five agencies
WES, ECE, Josef Silny, TEC and GCE.
Returned if not evaluated
Records sent without a report come back.
High school too
Secondary records and exam results are evaluated.
B-CU requirements in detail
Translation
B-CU sets no rule on who translates; it says college credentials go to the evaluation agency for translation, evaluation and a GPA calculation (International students).
Who may translate
Set by the agency: WES wants a professional translator, ECE accepts any word-for-word translation, Josef Silny, TEC and GCE want ATA-certified translators.
Evaluation
Required for high school transcripts and national exam scores, and for any post-secondary study (International students).
Report type
WES and Josef Silny: a comprehensive course-by-course evaluation. ECE: a general report for secondary school, a detailed report for college (International students).
Transfers
Current college students submit an evaluation of their final transcript; with fewer than 28 transferable credits, a high school evaluation and ACT or SAT scores too (International students).
Admission
Minimum GPA 2.5; TOEFL about 79-80 if English is not your first language; SAT or ACT only for academic scholarships (International students).
What each agency asks for the translation
B-CU gives step-by-step instructions for each of its five agencies, and their translation rules differ.
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept translations by applicants; for B-CU, your schools send their transcripts to WES with the request form you print from its site (International students).
ECE accepts complete, word-for-word translations, including your own, and its instructions change by country.
Josef Silny & Associates has a B-CU-specific application and asks for translations made in the US by ATA-certified translators.
The Evaluation Company, also with a B-CU application, accepts outside translations only from ATA-certified translators.
Global Credential Evaluators, which B-CU says asks for an official English literal, word-for-word translation of every foreign document, also accepts only ATA-certified translators (International students).
For these three, ask eVerbary for an ATA-certified translator through a free quote.
Nothing goes to B-CU before the evaluation
B-CU is explicit about the order: credentials submitted to the university without an evaluation by one of its agencies are returned, which delays acceptance (International students).
The page also says college credentials should be submitted for translation to the agency; that does not oblige you to buy the agency's own translation unless the agency says so, and WES, for example, does not translate.
Translate the high school transcripts, the diploma and the national exam certificates before you open the agency file, and follow up with your schools so their transcripts reach the agency on time.
Need a certified translation for B-CU?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- High school transcripts, grades 9 to 12
- National certification exam results
- College or university transcripts, if you attended
- Diplomas and degree certificates
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to B-CU
The translation goes to the agency with your records, and the agency sends its report to Bethune-Cookman; test scores go directly to B-CU (CEEB 5061, ACT 0720) (International students).
On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for B-CU, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For B-CU that means we translate your records; the evaluation is ordered by you from WES, ECE, Josef Silny, TEC or GCE.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I send my foreign transcripts straight to Bethune-Cookman?
No. B-CU returns credentials that were not evaluated by one of its agencies (International students).
Which agencies does B-CU accept?
World Education Services, Educational Credential Evaluators, Josef Silny & Associates, SpanTran: The Evaluation Company and Global Credential Evaluators (International students).
Do I need a course-by-course or a general report?
WES and Josef Silny: comprehensive course-by-course. ECE: a general report for secondary school and a detailed report for college (International students).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for B-CU?
Yes, on request, if you use Josef Silny, TEC or GCE. Ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for a Bethune-Cookman evaluation and needs a translator individually certified by ATA. ATA certifies Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) and Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page) into English; no other languages.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
